They want him now because the money is worth the risk. before they werent going to get the $$$ they are going to get now to get in thering with him And I belive the fighters that are being reffered to is Money May, DLH and others not named Williams and Clottey cause if you recall they both already fought him....Lefty

you are all missing the point here. They usually do this to give the Champ who may hold more then 1 belt like the WBA and the WBC belts in WW this SUPER title so he has more time to make his madatory deffense in that division. In this case Tony would have had to fight a mandatory and doing this clears his schedule and agenda so he fights maybe Clottey or Williams rather then the WBA madatory opponent. It also give him until 2010 to do so so he can fight Cotto even if he is NOT the WBA mandatory opponent. It is smart business in the eman time they still have someone to call Champ and make title defenses as the WBA WW Champ. Confusing yes at first until you think about it. Wouldn't it suck if Marg was forced to fight some Joe Smoe and then he lost his chance to fight WIlliams or Clottey or Berto or Cotto because he lost? He has been screwed around so long and ducked and he is deserving a BIG MONEY FIGHT not a mandatory opponent and a chance to lose his belt and opportunity to make the money he deserves....Lefty

No. Just no. If he fights a mandatory and loses, that's boxing. They fought for a title. They have just given a world title to some guy.

When you're a champ you have to keep fighting, whether that's the big fights or mandatories. That's how it has always been. They can't just start giving anyone various titles to keep them from having to fight. When you have a title you have to defend it, and whether that's against another champ to unify or against the number one contender or mandatory doesn't matter. It's what you have to do to stay a champion!

The whole point of these things is you fight for it. You don't get them for free. That's how it is becoming though. Soon enough, they will just start giving who they think is good or popular a world title, no matter their actual ranking.

Neither one of those guys is willing to fight Marg. May has retired and Oscar has a much bigger fight lined up. Marg doesn't even factor in to their plans. The guys who have always been willing to fight, and have, are still willing to. It's up to Marg now.

Thats may be true but you become the main target once you're on top...I understand he's bout the money..Which fighter in their right mind doesnt want to recieve a big payday for all of the hardwork, dedication and time in training camps.
