This just shows how ridiculous and pointless Alphabet straps are. Exploiting fighters of their hard earned keep and justifying that by saying these trinkets give a fighter 'opportunity', give me a break.

the alphabet belts, especially the WBO and WBA, have been worthless for a long time. this is nothing new. fighters looking for a career should just ignore the belts and go after the big fights on their own.

The Ring belt is the ONLY strap that matters, no sanctioning fees, the number one contender facing the number two or in some cases number three in each respective division in order to earn it. All this would give the boxing fan the clearest picture of who the best in the world is. The game has always been that way though and I don't think Boxing and it's fighters are ready to leave this tainted system.

          HAHAHAHAHAH.

The WBA is tripping, anything to make more money. I guess it's a good thing since it means Margarito won't have to face any pointless mandatories. It's ****** and illogical but it isn't that bad in the end, when it comes to the reprecussions it will have and the fights that can be made.

the RING belt is **** too. Casamayor was the RING champ for a long time when he didnt deserve it, when all the fans knew it. although the RING belt is still WAY above the other belts when it comes to ranking fighters.

they all need to be thrown in the garbage and started over again.

                Margarito is a complete joke!

In no way is he the welterweight super champ. Margarito is ducking Daniel Santos, and Paul Williams (rematch) how the hell is this bum now considered super champ?? thats a disgrace.

The process in which fighters are ranked and the process that determines who gets The Ring belt are two different things. The only way to win The Ring belt is to either beat the Champion or face the number one contender in a vacant division there is no politics like there is in the other belts, Casa could've only done it those two ways. Since ranking fighters is a lot more subjective than it is objective, it's always been ****ed up but that's what we as boxing fans have to put up with. Either way, having just one belt for each division I think would force competition with the best fighting the best, and The Ring belt is ideal as it doesn't screw fighter's from the money they earn, they take no money at all.

blackirish u obviously dont understand the RING belt if u think its ****......they even acknowledged in the magazine that they HATED having Casamayor as the RING lightweight champ, but you cant just take someones belt away cause of a HORRIBLE decision(casamayor vs santacruz).....otherwise theyd be hyprocrites

That is a joke, this is why there shouldnt be numerous different title for weight classes. if everyone was fighting for one belt there would be no ducking etc
                      This ruling is ridiculing boxing!
