The difference between Mayweather's and Calzaghe's unbeaten records..

is that Floyd would have remained unbeaten no matter who he fought. Whereas Calzaghe would have been beaten somewhere along the line if he hadn't fought so many mediocre mandatories for most of his career.

Let me say this- I dislike both these two guys and always tend to support their opponents.

However, even though Floyd's cherry picking of opponents based purely on money is just so frustrating, even if he had fought the real credible forces, he would have beat them.

Kosta Tzyou, Cotto, (a younger) Mosley, Margarito etc...he would beat them all, IMHO.

Whereas I'm fairly certain that had Joe run into a younger Hopkins or RJJ, they would have schooled him. I'd favour Pavlik over him too. Which is why there are always going to be question marks over Joe's career and talents, for me anyway.

Whereas Floyd...whatever you say about the people he ducked - can you also honestly say these fighters would have beaten him?

Yeah...because Joe had Roy in his weight class. Of course he would have.

      Don't forget James Toney.

If that wasn't a feasible fight, then how come we hear those (franky ludicrous) claims from the Calzaghe camp that RJJ ducked him??

            Did RJJ duck boiling down????

No, I think they both cherry picked opponents.

However, my point is - even if Mayweather had stopped being so obsessed with the most money/least risk fight and fought everyone he conceivably could have, he still would have beaten them.

Who could realistically have beaten Floyd?

joe fought every single person in his division except for sven ottke and steve collins. i'm pretty sure it wasn't joe's camp that didn't want those matchups.

you can say toney , bernard and roy but my statement was IN HIS DIVISION. bernard was at 160 , roy went to 175 2 years before joe even won a belt and toney about 3 years before joe won his belt. they weren't in the same division.

floyd on the other hand can be said didn't fight more than a few guys in his division at the time he was there. whether kostya , spadafora , margarito , cotto , etc. could have beat him or not is irrelevent to my wannabe smartass comment.

If Jones wasn't ever a conceivable fight, then how did RJJ duck him, as JC claims?

                  Can someone answer me this?

Or is this another Calzaghe flight of fancy?
