I don't understand why Hatton isn't on the list.

By this logic I have to nominate Rocky Marciano as one of the best defensive fighters ever. He did get hit, but was 49-0 so he MUST have had great D.

Marciano did have above average defense as this video shows:

This video, along with Marciano's undefeated record and the fact that he was only down twice (and neither KD was serious) proves that Rocky was truly the greatest defensive fighter of all time.

Sven Ottke is number 2, Mayweather might come third place.

Machine when I 1st saw that video it changed the way I thought about Marciano. I still feel that he is overated but was impressed with his defense. I alwayz thought he was some face first no defense brawler. I was WRONG. That belief was in me for a pretty long time

I agree it was above average. Certainly better than he is given credit for. But there were many factors as to why he was undefeated, as there is with Mayweather.

On a side note Manchine....are you some kind of computer/video genius or something? You had that video up as a response to my post 4 minutes after I posted it. I sat back and laughed a little bit and thought to myself, 'damn, this guy is good!'

He is like Dempsey, Armstrong and Frazier. It's not exactly pretty but it's effective.

Joe Frazier was one of the best at ducking under his opponent's punches while coming forward all the time.

The video was made by someone else. There was a thread about it some time ago.

I thought it was funny, especially the part about Marciano distracting Louis by hitting the ropes.

i've always though that frazier copped his style from dempsey.

What made Joe so dangerous is the way he baited you into throwing uppercuts at him.

Once you started doing that, you were his. That vicious left hook was going to find you, and you were done.
