I really want to see a PWill/ Marg rematch and i think it would be a hell-of-a-fight, but Marg does deserve a big payday after being in the shadows for years, and after he gets his payday when he KTFO of Cotto, then they better make a PWill/Marg rematch Mexican Independence Day Weekend.

funny because I distinctly remember the co-manager of Margarito calling me from some airport in Puerto Rico telling me to get a list of sparring partners together because they are going to mediation to MAKE the Williams fight.

you remember when Bob tried to not allow this fight to go on yet the WBO told Bob there was nothing he could do as HIS fighter wanted to make his mandatory defense.

Marg destroyed the 2 most dangerous punchers at WW in violent back to back title fights in a ****in 3 month span, he lost closely to Pwill last year, and UD'd Clottey in a tough fight the year before that. Give the guy a break for now. If he ends 2009 without rematchin Pwill (should Pwill stay at WW) then yes, mother**** Margarito. Til then we just gotta wait and see. Do you know the current contract status between Margarito and Top Rank? I seem to recall that Tony signed an extension at the time he was facing Williams to resolve his differences with Arum. It would have supposedly taken him to the end of 2008. Do you know if Arum got him to sign another extension before facing Cotto? Or is he a free agent after this year?

Thanks in advance Eaner. That would be great if you could let us all know.
Two fights left sounds about right to me since Arum seems in a rush to get Cotto to rematch Margarito just in case he doesn't resign with Top Rank.

I remember that during the Williams/Margo purse bid fiasco and troubles with Arum that one of the attorneys from Golden Boy that was working with Margarito(I think it was Espinoza?) was trying to tank the fight. I always thought that Margo's team would leave Arum at the time because he was being very poorly promoted.

I know organizations like the UFC love making challengers sign long extensions before they let them fight for the title to prevent them from winning it then leaving their organization or holding the title hostage so was curious what the situation was between Margarito and Top Rank.
