I was talking about thier first fight. The $35mil was Oscar's offer to Floyd for a rematch. It was reported that Floyd made $26mil for his first fight with Oscar.

Floyd was offered $35mil to rematch Oscar. That didnt neccesarily mean he was going home with $35mil. U have to take into account all of the above i mentioned.
but here's the thing that I am saying

Dan made the claim that "I am offering Tony 4 million" when in fact he offered it to Bob and the lead in the promotion in exchange for 50% of the TV revenue.

Bob gets the 4 million and takes a lesser % in the TV (not sure about the live gate %) which means his profit would be less. In turn I would have to think that he would try and short change Tony and blame it on having less money to use for promotion, airing the countdown (the promoters NOT HBO pay for it) etc etc

when we say Tony was paid 1.5 million he was paid that sum. Out of that comes his personal cash outs (managers, team, gear etc) so yes they dont see the full amount

but Dan never intends to actually pay Tony that amount but rather give Bob that amount and use it to pay for the fight, including Tonys purse.

      thats what I meant

The problem with Margarito is that he's not a marketable fighter. Coming off a huge win over Miguel Cotto, you'd think Top Rank would've rolled out the red carpet and gotten him a huge payday...but the reality is, his biggest payday is still with Miguel Cotto. He had tentative fights with Clottey, Williams, Zab, and I'll even throw Oscar in there...and nothing has been made except a fight sometime in January against TBD (which again is just a set up for a Cotto rematch)

I think Margarito does deserve the money he wants. Unfortunately, the business side of the sport is what's going to **** him in the end.

Top Rank does not want Margarito as champ for the long stretch.

I gotta agree... when they do the double-header Cotto will be at the top of the card.

            That's just plain incorrect.

The other $35 Million goes to HBO/Time Warner and Golden Boy Promotions.

Out of Oscar and Floyd's cuts they have to pay their managers, trainers, training expenses, entourage, taxes, etc.

For a $4 million dollar offer (guarantee plus PPV upside) for Margarito, Arum would take his 30% (or less) and Margarito would be left with the other 70%, out of which he would have to pay his usual expenses (trainers, managers, etc).

That still adds up to his highest payday ever.

very true which is why Margarito and his team are going against the grain of what Top Rank wants him to do. They initially wanted a Shane fight but it sounded like Shane kind of hedged his bet a bit by saying Margarito would be busy with Cotto, which isnt until the summer.

Top Rank wants him to fight Clottey again because lets face it Clottey is their fighter. Whoever loses that fight IMO doesnt matter to Top Rank because either way they still have the belts (now a two belt holding champion) to offer their money machine, Miguel Cotto.

Well it's no longer a double header from what I read. Margarito is supposed to fight at the end of January and Cotto the following month.

Ok, say Tony recieves $1.5mil, with $2.5 going to payouts for promotions and fee's. That's still more than Tony has EVER made. Oscar nor Shane will fight him. A rematch with Cotto wont happen till mid-09. Who else besides Williams will bring Tony that kind've money right now?

Mosley and Margarito can generate over 300k if promoted well. That would be a nice pay day for Margarito he is not going to get Oscar
