Im a huge fan of both guys. They both said some ignorant stuff to each other, but it was a big rivalry. It had to be that way. Two of my all time favorite fighters for sure. I just wish JMM could have been in the mix with those two when they were all prime.

Those two will never genuinely get along, it's understandable that Barrera was a bit angry after the decision.

I thought Barrera won the first and third, Morales the second.

I think you can make the case that Barrera deserved the first fight, but I think there is a much easier case to be made for Morales deserving the second fight.

Out of the three fights, I think the second one was easily the most one-sided, and the wrong guy got the decision.

I'll personally always rank Morales over Barrera in any type of ATG status or anything like that.

In addition to having a near even trilogy, Morales did much better against common opponents. Pretty much all common opponents were dominated by both, but... Jones beat Barrera twice, and Morales convincingly beat Jones by knockout. Barrera was completely dominated by Pacquiao twice, and Morales put up one hell of a fight against Pacquiao in both of the first two fights.

        Erik Morales...
im a barrera fan and i agree there is a case that morales could have got the decison for the 2nd fight, however, barrera CLEARLY won there 3rd and final fight. the first fight barrera should have got the decision....even without the knockdown that was awarded to him, he was hungry that night and put it all on the line and took the fight to morales. so 2-1 to barrera in there trilogy is right, maybe the first and second fights however should have been awarded differently.

and i admit, morales was gracious in his interview and barrera was pissed that he lost, but emotions run high and a few minutes after getting being told he lost, barrera was bound to be mad and it just spilled out in the interview he had with HBO. even after morales lost the 2nd fight against barrera, he walked straight out of the ring in disgust and anger and didnt want to be interviewd.....only to come back later on and do an interview with HBO.

even though morales beat opponents barrera did not beat, i will always rank barrera higher than morales, they have common opponents on there resumes, but barrera took morales and naseem hameds "0" on there records being the first man to defeat them, he is also 2-1 in there trilogy against morales, and he also beat kennedy mckinney who was a good fighter too, barrera also dealt with defeats a lot better than morales did, when people fought barrera was done he came back right to the top.

Most boxers will make every excuse in the world to avoid saying that they were hurt, losing rounds, getting hit, not landing every punch flush etc. They try to convince everyone that they fought a perfect fight everytime, and anyone who disagrees is trying to rob them.

Morales was hurt a few times, but kept a pretty good poker face, and he punched back every time as well. But in the post-fight interview, he said that Barrera was a great fighter, he thought he was going out on more than one occasion during the fight, etc. He also said he thought he deserved the decision he got, because that knockdown wasn't a real knockdown (which was correct, a punch didn't land), which in effect, concedes that the fight was as close as it could possibly be.

Barrera acted like a **** (as usual) in the post-fight interview. I mean, whatever, he had good reason to think he won (the fight was really, really close, no matter who you scored it for, and with that knockdown, he had even more reason to believe that he should get the decision), but that last comment about "Hey HBO, your champion is not that good" was pretty lame. I'm not sure why the most macho of fighters have to act like such ****s whenever they drop a decision. It's pretty irritating.
Yeah Barrera has such a ****ty attitude, I remember things like him hitting pac after the break & wrestling Hamed to the floor( Even though Hamed is a fool too). Every time I see him he is doing some under handed ****.

It's a little easier being gracious when you actually get your hand raised.

regardless of their prefight, post fight antics, the fact that they were bitter and imature, if you will, at times is what made this rivalry so fun to experience as a boxing fan. here you had to of the best boxers of that generation displaying a spectrum of what boxing has to offer. if you wanted to show someone what makes boxing such a great sport, you could show them the trilogy because it had everything, drama, excitement, technical mastery, and straight up gangsta ass brawling.

I thought MAB deserved the 1st win. One of those close fights that can't be called a robbery wit EM winnin it. 2nd fight was EM's, but again I thought the wrong guy won. 3rd fight MAB clearly got the best of him and won out in the trilogy. It ain't classy to hear guys **** talkin each other, but you should expect that in a personal rivalry. MAB's got a mean streak that he can't hide sometimes, but EM has done/said his share of shady **** too. I'm just waitin for somebody to bump the thread about the Guty Espadas fight.

its easy to post a video of something without actually explaining the situation. anyone who knows the circumstances of that incident will tell you that it may even have been warranted. that user is just a bitter morales hater.

I still think the closeness of the trilogy gives Barrera a slight edge, but...

The enormous advantage Morales had over Barrera against Pacquiao (who is going down as one of the best of this era) is a big win for Morales between the two of them.

The Junior Jones fiasco for Barrera hurts him as well, and Morales KO'd him in 4.

Domination at 122 tips towards Morales.
                      126 goes to Barrera.
I think 130 goes to Morales though. The Pacquiao fights are enough to make up for the loss to Barrera.
