    Morales-Barrera I post-fight interview

I couldn't believe the things that Morales said...

Most boxers will make every excuse in the world to avoid saying that they were hurt, losing rounds, getting hit, not landing every punch flush etc. They try to convince everyone that they fought a perfect fight everytime, and anyone who disagrees is trying to rob them.

Morales was hurt a few times, but kept a pretty good poker face, and he punched back every time as well. But in the post-fight interview, he said that Barrera was a great fighter, he thought he was going out on more than one occasion during the fight, etc. He also said he thought he deserved the decision he got, because that knockdown wasn't a real knockdown (which was correct, a punch didn't land), which in effect, concedes that the fight was as close as it could possibly be.

Barrera acted like a **** (as usual) in the post-fight interview. I mean, whatever, he had good reason to think he won (the fight was really, really close, no matter who you scored it for, and with that knockdown, he had even more reason to believe that he should get the decision), but that last comment about "Hey HBO, your champion is not that good" was pretty lame. I'm not sure why the most macho of fighters have to act like such ****s whenever they drop a decision. It's pretty irritating.

I might be biased because I am a Morales fan, but... I agree.

I think you can make the case that Barrera deserved the first fight, but I think there is a much easier case to be made for Morales deserving the second fight.

Out of the three fights, I think the second one was easily the most one-sided, and the wrong guy got the decision.

I'll personally always rank Morales over Barrera in any type of ATG status or anything like that.

In addition to having a near even trilogy, Morales did much better against common opponents. Pretty much all common opponents were dominated by both, but... Jones beat Barrera twice, and Morales convincingly beat Jones by knockout. Barrera was completely dominated by Pacquiao twice, and Morales put up one hell of a fight against Pacquiao in both of the first two fights.

      Erik Morales...

These two men will never get along. Both are known to be ignorant, and the fued and hate both have of each other is pretty ruthless.

Morales is an all-time favourite of mine, and while i do respect Barrera and his achievements, without being biased, Morales will go down as a better fighter in years to come.

Morales played the HBO card in regard to Barrera before the third fight, and claimed Barrera was not in his league. Morales' behavior was just as bad or worse.

well you have to admit, if you thought you deserved the win(which was legitimate in this case for Barrera) after THAT kind of a fight and didnt get it, I think you would be in pretty bad spirits too.

personally, I had it a draw not including that fake knockdown in the 12th.

Barrera was always a little bit of an jackass, but I liked him a lot anyway. this is boxing...cant always expect the guys to be super polite. Duran was a pretty mean guy too after some of his fights, but I liked him too. why? cause he was a badass.

besides, these two simply didnt like each other. they punched each other before the fight, right? maybe Im getting mixed up.

Recall also that this fight was an effort to revive his career after the Jones losses, and he clearly gave all he had and worked his ass off to step up his game.

yea, thats got to be a big dissapointment...add that with the fact that he couldnt stand Morales, and you cant really expect him to be very nice, haha.

it always amazes me that Barrera's career was in question in the first Morales fight...people thought that he didnt have much left and would drop off the map. and yet he sticks around for years and years after. crazy.

I don't think Morales was particularly ignorant. He acted pretty civil during and after the first fight. He said it was personal beforehand, but tried to touch gloves after a slight foul during the fight and shook Barrera's hand afterwards. I always heard that the reason that **** got so out of hand was because when Morales tried to tell Barrera good fight, Barrera acted like a douchebag and told him to **** off or something like that, because he felt he got robbed. Obviously Morales didn't score the fight for himself, so why did Barrera act so hostile towards him because he didn't get the decision? That makes no sense to me.

He did play the HBO card, but... I do think he held particular hatred for Barrera because of how out of control things got after the first fight and Barrera's behavior.

Throwing the water bottle at Barrera (which hit his dad) after the third fight is pretty inexcusable for Morales though.

I think they punched at each other before the second fight, not the first. I might be wrong too.

All is fair with being a douchebag in boxing, until after the fight. If someone wants to say good fight, don't be a **** and tell him to go to hell, that's lame.

You don't have to like someone to respect someone.
