Yeah, I've got a few custom weak guys purely for this challenge purpose.
starjammer, you actually give your weak/average boxer way more stats than I do. I've got guys with next to nothing- weak skill, no wind, chins that shatter, and the skin of an old hemophiliac. Pretty much it makes all fights a timing issue to find those few perfect knockdown counters and score a tko or something before you totally gas by the middle rounds and become a bloody, swollen mess.Comment

I see what you mean, but I never use Haymaker or KO punches in offline mode. I think it makes the game too easy. My aim was to make the fights go to the cards, so it was necessary to give my guys more stamina and armour.Yeah, I've got a few custom weak guys purely for this challenge purpose.

I only have FN3 on PS2 although have since bought a PS3 and am tempted to get it for PS3 just to play online, espec as its still at least 6 months before FN4. Would it be worth it? Although I'd probably get destroyed playing against actual people

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay ahead of ya'.If you're like me, and you find no challenge in Fight Night Round 3, try this for a challenge. Create a boxer with very low punching stats. The reason why opponents go down so quickly obviously is because the health bars are very low and the punches take large amounts of damage off. Obviously.
Also if you land continuous heavy shots on your opponent, the computer puts them into a sort of shut down mode and they fire nothing back, making it very easy for you to finish them off.
Creating a boxer with very low power stat means the opponent is ALWAYS aggressive and the fight is ALWAYS competitive.
For example I created a LIGHTWEIGHT boxer with the following stats:
power 20
speed 100
agility 100
stamina 70
chin 80
body 80
heart 70
cuts 65
The speed and agility make up for the low punching power and gives you more of a chance of surviving the encounter. You may want to play around with these figures though, make it even more competitive by lowering your chin, body and speed etc.
So anyway I used my Lightweight against Vincent Escobedo on exhibition mode, and won a split decision win. There were NO knockdowns. I myself nearly went down on a few occasions.
The most important thing is that the fight was ALWAYS competitive and not a competition to get the opponent out before round 3.
Most of you probably already know this stuff, but many may not have tried it. It's definitely a good challenge and puts the fun back in the game for me.
Note: I've never had a fight go to a decision before in offline play until now.
The key here is that the CPU is much more aggressive because it knows you cannot hurt it, and your punches don't send it into shut down mode. You
may see the CPU making more intelligent decisions than you ever seen before.
I've logged so many hours into this game, it's ridiculous! Seriously.
Actually, another [fun] match to do is to pick someone who's quick in the lower weight classes (Pacquiao, Leonard, etc), put it on hard difficulty (not that it helps much), pick Golota as your opponent and try to beat him (without relying on a parry-->HAYMAKER reversal). It's actually a challenge.
I was bored, wondered what it would've been like to have Mayweather go up against Margarito.......so without creativity in the "Create a Champ" department, I just picked SRL and Golota and pretended they were them. I won a split decision in the first match (who would've thought that getting a decision in this game would give you a bigger sense of accomplisment?) In the second fight, I lost by KO in the 12th. Then in the 3rd, I knocked Golota out in the 8th...but I know I have to do a rematch....
............Floyd would never knock Margarito out...
Anyway...my two cents.
