Khan's defeat- The elephant in the room

I look at it like this:
Racism against ******s is probably the most common form of racism in the western world right now.
Khan is ******.
Khan attracted bizarre levels of hatred throughout his career, with many expressing a desire to see him get KTFO to 'teach him a lesson'. Glee was a common response when this happened.
I think racism is a very plausible explanation, lets not pretend it doesn't exist or is not common.
Of course, that does not mean that you are a racist if you happened not to like Khan.
also the fact that Khan's personality just plain isn't very likable, interesting or entertaining doesn't help matters
i suppose there must inevitably be people who dislike him based on race somewhere, just like there is for just about anything though... but i doubt on this particular board it's much of a factorComment

Keyser I think you should give it up.
I think all these points you make are coming from your own head as an attempt to justify what you think is the reason behind people daring to enjoy his loss.
If you look at it, its not down to his race (being a young ****** male), Naz fit that profile but he had some serious bite and had a genuine achievement to be ****y about.
Amir was basically being rammed down the throats of the public, if you want a music analogy he was like the song everyone raves about, and is played all the time on every ****ing station, after a while you get sick of it and want it to go away.
The same thing happened to Amir Khan, that and the fact he expected people to pay for his fights against no one in particular, we dont have to pay for world title fights FFS why the **** would we pay to see a non world title fight?
The point about Ricky Hatton is moot. So you 'see through his working class hero act', thats fine, but at least he achieved something notable and lost to the best P4P fighter. Amir Khan achieved nothing but we're expected to pay for his fights when we dont pay for Ricky's, Joes, Hayes.
The people who went on with racial **** about him after he lost were probably always gonna be coming out with it eventually, but I think its alarming the lack of faith you have in your fellow countrymen that we are not a bunch of racists, its insulting that you think we are not mature enough to be able to distinguish betwen race and other factors which may have caused us to be happy about his loss, and shows your immaturity tbh.Comment

Thats what you say now, but it's just not true.
And I dont give a **** if they are Welsh, you take credit for Calzaghe.
All those guys got ****ed up and embarrassed.
Now Hatton will get his ears boxed off by a gay guy and Haye will get sparked by Eddie Chambers and they won't be English either.
People with boxing knowledge made Khan a 16-1 favorite over an undefeated fighter, so clearly plenty of you blind nationalists thought he was a world beater
Of course we support Calzaghe as he's british, but you called him English, I was merely correcting you.
oh and last time I checked, bookies make the odds. Not people with boxing knowledge, it's based on how much money they recieve for each bet, not who people think will win.Comment

Then perhaps you should have "economised" before calling 95% of the Forum racist or Anti ******...

The fact is that he has been overhyped as the next crown ***el of the sport even with all the clear shortcomings that we all saw before hand.
It is rather pathetic that you bring the race card.
He isn't the only person who gets hated for his hype. Hell, just look at JCCjr.Comment

I think thats what English people are saying now that he has been knocked out.
Obviously with all the Yanks vs Limeys nonsense around here most Americans will enjoy the loss the same way Limeys enjoy seeing a guy like Jason Litzau laid out (at least by a world champ).
However, I think the hating on Khan by English fans is just a defense machanism because so many English fighters have been getting sparked out that they felt the need to act like this was no big deal and that Khan wasn't a 16-1 favorite..... bet up by English fans who were sure of a victory of course.
Enzo, Rees, Matthews, Hatton, Lockett.. sheesh.
I can see why people love Joe Calzaghe, at least if he loses he wont get KTFO in embarrassing fashion like his countrymen.
Enzo got ktfo by an Englishman, Rees by a Bulgarian(no one expected Rees to even get a belt let alone get a fight with Kotelnik), everyone knew Lockett would get KTFO by Pavlik. You know most people in England have never, ever heard of Rees, Matthews or Lockett and maybe even Enzo(maybe slightly more than the first three). So no one really cared that they lost. I dont see how they relate to Khan(everyone knew who Khan was). Khan was about a whole load of different things.
I just think your are on the wind-up looking to create some trouble in this thread.Comment
