The Adamek-Briggs fights which I went to both did killer biz in Chicago.
Adamek-Briggs 1 was at the United Center
23,000 people though saw Golota get annihilated by Brewster in 53 seconds so these fights made up for it.
Adamek-Briggs 2 was on the undercard of Valuev-Monte Barrett at the Allstate Arena.
It felt like I was in freakin Warsaw, Poland watching those fights.
I was ringside at Adamek/Gomez and Kathy Duva told me that the fight with Cunningham was going to be in Newark (or did she say NEW YORK?)
If it lands in Chicago, I'm there. If it lands in New Jersey, we'll see...
Cruisers never get much love period. Even after Holyfield-Qawi and the awesome Toney-Jirov war and Bell-Mormeck, Haye-Mormeck fights for whatever reason, that division just doesn't seem to interest the fans very much.
It's a shame really.
Mormeck-Braithwaite, Jones-Braithwaite, Haye-Maccarinelli were all big cruiserweight fights that were enjoyable (some while they lasted...)
