    Whats a loss!?

Why are we so quick to give up on our fighters these days? Cotto for example, a great fighter in his prime, fights a FOTY candidate with an inhuman beast in Tony Magarito but loses late on suffering a bust nose early and still showing all the attributes that made him a force in the first place.
Why is it then that many have decided 1 loss into his career he is done!?
Amir Khan an outstanding talent with skills in abundance gets wiped out by a big puncher in the first round very early in his career and again people say he is finished.Could have happened to anybody. Khan clearly dont have a good chin but fighters chins have improved with maturatity before and he is very young, perhaps he can become a defensive genius? He has skills and time on his side. Im not saying he will make it but im not prepared to pronounce him finished just yet!
Fighters of eras gone by all lost and came back time and again, a loss aint the end of the world. In the UFC hardly anybody is unbeaten, they realise u dont need that pretty lookin 0 on the end of ur record to be The Man, the best fight the best and sometimes they lose - no big deal!

Yep, they do. These days too much stock is put on the "0", and when someone loses it they are "exposed". I remember after the Katsidis-Casamayor fight people said Katsidis was exposed and thinking, how?

Fighters with that 0 build up an aura of being unbeatable, and when they lose they're done, that's it their careers over..

Sometimes, it's true. Like with the case of Jeff Lacy, but I think Miguel Cotto will come back well, and with good sparring and a good trainer Khan should do as well.

100% Spot on just what im sayin dude! Lacy got exposed, he was found wanting Big time over 12 one sided rounds. Katsidis tho i picked him to win wasnt exposed he was beaten. We knew going in he had his limitations but was none the less a good fighter and still is

I don't think Katsidis will do a lot. He looked pretty bad against Diaz. I think he will be a gatekeeper kind of guy. Testing the young guys to see what they have.

            Still, i'm a fan.

Way too much emphasis is placed on losses now.

Mine too dude, he showed his class even in defeat.

But im not talking about retaining a fan base after defeat, i still like Lacy even tho i know he's ****ed for example, its when people automatically write a guy off after a loss that pisses me off
