My dear fellow you are way to conceited !
      Calzaghe will fight anybody!

I think that's a hell of a stretch to say Calzaghe wouldnt have fought RJJ in his prime. Calzaghe has always wanted to make a name for himself but I agree Warren kept his meal ticket close to home far too long.

Woah, mind reading skills into overdrive with this post, eh?

Personally, I think that the people picking Jones are mostly doing it because of wishful thinking or a lack of knowledge. That's why there's such a disparity between the prediction of NSB and those of people who make a living writing about the sport.

ROY JONES JR admits he is in for the fight of his life against Joe Calzaghe.
Jones has held world titles at four different weights but becoming the first boxer to defeat Calzaghe presents the biggest challenge of his career.
And the American insists fight fans will witness a classic between two of the fastest boxers around on November 8.
Jones said: "I need to be ready because Joe will start punching at 7pm on Saturday and probably won't finish until around 2am on Sunday.
"He deserves more respect than he gets and we're going to put on a show. We're both true athletes, true guys and we respect each other totally."
Like Jones, Calzaghe is looking to cement his legacy with a stunning performance.
The Welshman, who is undefeated in 45 fights, said: "This bout is a dream come true for me.
"I'm a fan of Roy's as he is one of the greats but of course I am going to win. I don't lose.
"This is going to be the fight of the year."

Well unlike his fanatics RJJ isn't taking Calzaghe lightly and if the man himself thinks Joe's a danger then maybe the Roy nuts are wrong.

Ahh, bitching about who ducked who, how I love it.

Calzaghe never got to fight Jones because he wasn't in the same weight division, and never impressed anyone enough on the other side of the pond to make the fight a compelling must-happen. He probably could have moved up to LHW in around 2000/2001 but had he done so he would have been leaving behind £500,000 a time for title defences to pursue a fight that might never have happened, especially considering that Cal was a Showtime fighter and Roy HBO.

Instead Calzaghe sought to fight Bernard Hopkins as his 'defining fight', and agreement was indeed reached only for Hopkins to double his purse demands. Of course, from Hopkins viewpoint he was being asked to fight a virtual US unknown in his own backyard, do perhaps its understandable why he did this. After this fight never materialised, it began to appear to many observers in the UK that Calzaghe had missed his chance and would never get that big fight, so he was lucky that Lacy came along in the circumstances he did. The rest is history.

It is easy to lambast Calzaghe for not having fought either Hopkins or Jones in their prime, but all in all his career has worked out reasonably well. Had he moved up to LHW earlier then he would have foregone the chance to fight Kessler and Lacy, in favour of fighting say Tarver, Johnson and Woods, and still no Roy fight might ever have materialised, considering the large numbers of other foreign champions Roy could and should have fought, but did not. I also have my doubts about whether victories over Tarver, Johnson or Woods would be particularly well regarded, especially if in the case of the former two they had occured prior to their meetings with Jones. By persuing the path he did Calzaghe was able to unify his division and become the linear champ, and then move up to the next one and become the linear champ there too. Its not bad going, and saying "he should have done this, he should have done that" is a bit silly really, because it presumes that all fights are there on a plate for any fighter who wants them.

For a guy with a pic of a big **** you have some balls to admit Calzaghe is the goods.

I dont understand how RJJ fans question Joe fighting "old" guys it's not like Cal is a 20 something trying to make a name for himself. He is the undisputed 168 champion, the first ever in that division and built a decent record over the years. How come the RJJ fanatics dont point to their hero chasing McCallum (a 40 year old when they fought btw) instead of fighting the consensus best 175 guy Michalczewski. So the 27 y.o. Jones going up in weight to fight a name fighter who was 40!!! is ok but the 37 y.o. Cal fighting the 39 y.o. RJJ isn't? Get a clue
