If Hopkins beats Pavlik what does it say about Calzaghe or even Taylor?

Will people still call for a Calzaghe-Pavlik fight or a Hopkins-Calzaghe rematch? Supposing Calzaghe doesn't retire after Jones ofcourse.

I'll just say it's styles making fights, Hopkins has the style to cause a lot of problems to Pavlik.

Definitely will hurt Cal's legacy, worst if he will get beaten by RJJ.

He will need a dominating performance aganst Jones then fight Pavlik.

Why will it hurt Cal's legacy if Hopkins beats Pavlik?

I dont think the outcome of the Pav-Hop fight does anything for Calzaghe. The overall view of fighters and fights are usually limited to the most recent event. If Hop beats Pav its not like everyone will call Joe a legend. Think of it this way, RJJ beats Hop, Tarver beats RJJ, Hop beats Tarver what does that mean? Styles make fights.

It will prove Hopkins isn't as shot as people say, so would make Joes win look better. So yes, it would improve his legacy.

I doubt it because Joe didnt dominate Hopkins. How many fans were saying JT is awesome after Hop beat Tarver and Winky?

In all fairness, I think a Hopkins win would be very good for Calzaghe, at least in terms of answering some of his critics. If Hopkins is still capable of beating Pavlik, himself a Ring belt holder, P4P list boxer and Calzaghe's #1 challenger elect, then I fail to see how that can not place Calzaghe's own win over Hopkins in a much more favourable light than it is regarded by Calzaghe's detractors. Any reasonable observer would have to conclude that Hopkins, far from being done, had plenty left, meaning that Joe beat an elite opponent in him. Of course, any reasonable observer should think this already.

Of course, styles do make fights but Hopkins style is bad for everyone, and you know what you're going to get with him. The challenge is to overcome what Hopkins does by bringing the game to do it. In boxing you are supposed to win and if you can't then you aren't as good as the guy who did.
