On the other hand if he looks or feels ordinary and feels he is slipping then he won't take the fight. THis is all assuming that Pavlik beats the faded BHop which I take to be pretty much a given.
Man alot of guys are counting out Hop before the fight. I'm not predicting anything because the last time I bet against Hop he dominated Tarver.

I just think Hopkins had a lot more left against Tarver than he does now. It will simply be a workrate issue. Pavlik will throw a ****load of punches and BHop is just too old to hang with him I think. Prime Hop obviously destroys him but the man is in his mid 40s now.

Nothing much more than we already know, prime hopkins more than likely would have beaten both of em. Techincally hopkins is better schooled then pavlik and calzaghe, workrate was part of the reason the decsion went against him in the calzaghe fight, and it'll probably be the reason he loses to pavlik. Good fight for both guys, style for style hopkins should win the fight cos unless he really is shot to ****, pavlik will find it hard to set up the jab-right hand, but i think pavlik expects that and knows as the fight goes on, hopkins will deterioate, the concentration will go with the tierdness and he will win UD or worse.

If Pavlik loses to Hopkins it would definitely make Calzaghe's stock rise and probably take away any chance of a possible Pavlik/Calzaghe fight in the near future.

You could even speculate that if that were to happen, and Taylor were to dominate or even KO Lacy, it would catapult Jermain back toward the top of the list of possible Calzaghe opponents. That is, unless Joe actually starts chasing after legitimate LHWs.

I think this will prove to be irrelevant though. If a younger Bernard couldn't outpoint or stop Taylor, I don't see how an older one will do either to Pavlik.

Not a damn thang!! you can't really make that type of comparison in the fight game....on any given day one fither could "have it" and the other could have an off day...you can't make that connection of ...he beat him therefore he will kill so and so....just don't work like that....

It's the nature of the win though, Calzaghe sc****d past Hopkins and most people think that Hopkins has nothing left in the tank. If he were to beat Pavlik then Hopkins would prove them he has some left in the tank and that the Calzaghe would go up in stock being that he didn't beat a totally shot Hopkins.

it doesn't say anything about calzaghe or taylor... hopkins is a crafty old guy that gave calzaghe the toughest fight of his life and possibly ruined taylor. Arguably he beat both calzaghe and taylor.

maybe it just means styles makes fights and that hopkins' style is better suited to slow plodding power punchers (pavlik) than herky jerky southpaw slappers (calzaghe)

True but the point im trying to make is that it proves that if he wins it proves that Hopkins has alot more left in the tank than people think though which would bring alot more credit to the Hopkins win.

                      EDIT: double post
