Povetkin's chance against Wlad

One of the reasons I like Wlad is that he will take any fight possible AND has the ability to make any fight a money fight.
As for the thread topic, it is one thing to throw 60-70 punches against guys like Donald and Byrd and completely different thing to throw that amount of punches against Wlad, who will punch back and do it real hard.Comment

It sure is. But nobody has in a while. When Sanders did he walked right through him.One of the reasons I like Wlad is that he will take any fight possible AND has the ability to make any fight a money fight.

Wlad negated fighters and made them less busy. I think Povetkin has a chance.
He may not win but I don't see him posing the whole fight either.Comment

As far Chagaev, he is real good, but I think Wlad takes him on his footspeed alone.
Chagaev has his specific range where his speed(usually it is one step in any direction, since he is mostly a flatfooted fighter) is very potent and where he can get on the inside and counter.
But Wlad is not the fighter he was against Sanders, and I just see him breaking chagaev down for the later portion of the fight(even losing couple of round in the beginning) and setting him up with something big later.Comment

im sorry but wlad is too damn skilled. he does everything beautifully, has an outstanding defense, and is a MASTER at keeping opponents at the end of his punches.
he also never goes on the ropes or gets caught in a corner either.
my advice to povetkin is go into the fight round 1 and throw nothing but bombs, and eat as many punches as you have to until you either land a bomb or get knocked the **** out.Comment

Nobody seems to do that. Seems like Wlad is treated like a jabbing Lennox Lewis these days.(meaning unbeatable if he kept jabbing)im sorry but wlad is too damn skilled. he does everything beautifully, has an outstanding defense, and is a MASTER at keeping opponents at the end of his punches.

I honestly think that Povetkin will try to stay on outside for most of the fight, after he tastes a couple of big counters. It's not gonna be a logical thing for him to do, but he will just be surviving.
I just dont think he is psychologically ready for this type of boxing yet.
Especially if Wlad will fight more conservatively in the beginning and will paw his jab into Sasha's face, not letting him aim accurately.
You got to keep in mind, Alex has some big holes in his defense, and unlike some other fighters from soviet boxing school, for Alex these defensive ailments are not intended to fool his opponent into an angle and a range.Comment

thing is sanders was the first fighter that was intimidated from round one. there was no "feeling out" in that fight, sanders went in throwing some bombs and he landed em. thats about the best way for lesser talented heavyweights to beat wlad. corrie sanders went in with nothing to lose and figured why not just lay it all out in the first part of the fight?
wlad got caught, thats all there is to it, sometimes you just get ****ing caught, and IMO the easiest rounds to get "caught" in are rounds 1 and 2. unless you are as big and athletic as klitschko, you arent going to outbox him. like him or not he is a ****ing brilliant boxer, if you want to beat wlad, the only way to go is KO, and you better do it quick or hes gonna do it to you.Comment

its not easy getting that many punches off on wald as he's always sticking that jab out and moving away. this should be a hell of a lot better fight then his last 2 ( wlads) as povetkin will probably make wlad fight at a higher paceIf Povetkin throws the 60-70 punches a round he's been doing lately and refuses to let Wlad tie up on the inside and hits him with the short hooks and uppercuts that he is pretty good at, he may have a chance against Wlad.
I was thinking that Wlad hasn't seen much volume in forever and if Povetkin doesn't get too discouraged by the jab, he may have the chance to make this an interesting fight.
If he makes Wlad fight on the inside.....if....Comment
