I told you nice before, but if you make one more remark like that again I'll make it my quest to have you banned. I can look past some hormone fuelled 14 year old saying 'f@ggot' every other word because they don't know any better, but judging by the way you post, you should. I won't tolerate racial/xenophobic/sexist or ****phobic posts by anyone who can articulate a proper argument.
...and just for the record: no I'm not gay, but I have gay friends and I will not suffer the willful ignorant.
Yeah its quite funny how the **** thinks he's Martin Luther King, fighting a one man racism crusade up on his high horse on a boxing forum yet every single one of his posts containts ****phobic referneces.
Super middleweight/light heavyweight champion Joe Calzaghe had a field day with WBO/WBC middleweight champ Kelly Pavlik. Calzaghe said he is tired of Pavlik trying to make name for himself by continuously calling him out. He claims that Pavlik has ducked the opportunity to fight him, and says the only reason Pavlik is calling him out is because he already signed to fight Roy Jones Jr. on November 8 in New York's Madison Square Garden. [details]
* Calzaghe wanted a tune-up fight for HBO after he beat Lacy, he chose Pavlik to suit the American audience, but Pavlik declined because he wasn't ready for such a step-up and he was on his way to a middleweight title shot anyway.
* Calzaghe was looking for a fight with Taylor before Pavlik beat him, but Taylor was asking for an extremely unrealistic amount of money. Nevertheless, Calzaghe wanted to fight Pavlik as he beat Taylor. Pavlik was contractually obliged to fight Taylor again in a rematch and decided that he should stick to this rather than negotiate out of it to face Calzaghe.
* Calzaghe openly stated after the Hopkins victory that he wanted to face Roy Jones and he pursued this to conclusion. Pavlik made neutral comments saying he would fight Calzaghe, but not being pinned down to anything until it was clear Calzaghe was in deep negotiations with Roy Jones in an attempt either to try and force a fight or as a bluff for publicity - I don't know which.
My take on this:
Calzaghe has been chasing a fight with Roy Jones for the majority of his career and wasn't about to give up the opportunity, which came with a bigger payday, to fight someone he considered to have turned him down two times. Pavlik had perfectly good reasons for turning Calzaghe down both times (too green after the Lacy fight and contracted to fight Taylor again after their first fight), but Calzaghe has been the victim of a lack of opportunities throughout his career, so I can understand why he resents the idea of a new champion taking a fight with an 11 year champion whenever he pleases. At the end of the day though, I think it's obvious that this is all hype towards a fight in 2009 between the pair, provided they both win, so it doesn't really matter. Calzaghe wasn't drawn on whether the Jones fight was definately his last, which tells me that he has Pavlik in mind.
