Does Mayweather, Sr. get a COMPLETE PASS for the Guzman mess?

    I mean, WTF.

FMS has repeatedly called himself the world's greatest trainer. "Not this time or part time, but the greatest trainer of ALL time". He constantly belittles Freddie "The Joke Coach" Roach.

Why is Big Floyd getting a complete free ride on this Guzman fiasco??

Who's job is it to deliver a fit and ready fighter?

Well it all depends on how he runs his training camp...Does he do it like Hopkins..hire a nutritionist to watch your weight and let the trainer work on your ring\boxing abilities and a conditioning coach for you strenght and your stamina, so I cant just put all the blame on Mayweather Sr.

Guzman has to take most of the blame because he knows what he needs to do to make the weight.

a guy like Buddy McGirt works only on the boxing aspects of training which I think is the same for Floyd Sr. In fact most of the trainers I know don't concern theirselves with the weight aspect unless its an issue.

What I heard was that there was no chain of command in the camp. The strength and conditioning guy was not forced to report to Floyd, and anytime Floyd asked about weight that guy told Floyd basically to mind his own business. You cant have it that way. We had a strength and conditioning guy in Nate's camp as well, but I told him from day one that he reports to John David Jackson, and that John David was calling the shots.

Well..... with Guzman, weight is an issue.

It is the trainer's job to RUN the camp. If the guy is above weight three weeks out, the trainer has to say 'wait a minute - this isn't working'.

If the conditioning guy or the nutritionist had the fighter all muscled up and immobile, isn't it the trainer's job to intervene and put a stop to that ****?

In my perspective, you hire a top trainer to run your camp. Sparring, conditioning supervision, everything.

Perhaps he relies on a fighter to keep check of there own weight and he just trains looks at strateries etc. He doesn't seem the type to really be bothered by the basics in training like weighing yourself eyc he just wants to get down to training the man. Either way i'm not sure

It's also the fighters responsibility to make the weight. Guzman has been a pro for a while now. He knows what he has to do. What could Mayweather Sr tell Guzman that he didn't already know? It's not like he could force him to make the weight.

Please read this article. I think Big Floyd is shirking his responsibilities.

In the same article, FMS says "I'm the head coach. I'm supposed to know everything that's going on".

If FMS isn't responsible for the weight, why was he so concerned about Forbes' weight?

Exactly and there is no other way to look at that.
