Its his first fight fight in his new heavy weight career, I dont think he should bite off more than he can chew till he settles into the weight.
I agree Mercer is an old man and I expected better but accoprding to Hayes camp they are struggling to get an opponent big style.

As for him being a coward?- how many of you lot calling him a coward have stepped in a ring and fought someone? if youv done that then come back and tell me he is a coward.

Also Haye went to France and beat Mormeck when he was a champ- why would he do that if he was a coward?
He then went back down to Crusier despite saying he could only perform at "70 per cent at that weight" to fight Enzo Macrnelli his biggest rival at Crusier weight, despite the fact he had won the ring belt at crusier and didnt have anything left to prove. He faced him for the fans in a fight which he had little to gain and everything to lose.

    Coward my arse.

Johnson hits even weaker than Tony Thompson(which is saying something), and his punchrate is horrendous.

It stands to reason that if Thompson is calling him out...and he has no other real opponents other than a 47 year old man...and he said he wanted to fight a top fighter in the division...that he should fight Thompson.

unless theres something in the way. like...fear.

are you kidding me? Chagaev gets tired in almost all his fights that go long, most noticably against John Ruiz.
Valuev only can keep his breath because practically all he does is jab.

        Povetkin has good stamina.

Thompson, Barrett, and Chambers would be good opponents for Haye. Johnson, Toney and Rahman would be acceptable, or even a decent journeyman like Ahunyana or T. Ibragimov wouldn't be too bad.

Age 47 Mercer and clubfighter JD Chapman are unacceptable.

Thompson would be the ideal opponent for him, because his height and long reach would help prepare Haye for Wlad. However, Thompson is very durable and fairly strong, and has average heavyweight power, and so I can understand Haye ducking Tony.

But he is a coward for ducking Kevin Johnson, who is a fairly skillful but feather-fisted fighter.

If Haye really is a top heavyweight, he should choose one of the three fighters on the left.
I wanted Haye to fight Sultan Ibragimov since he called him a bum and it would be a good gage to see if he was a legitimate HW before he gets a title shot.

Povetkin got a ****ty defense and gonna get KO'd by Wlad. Haye will take the Chambers, Johnson, Barrett or Chapman fight soon here and were all gonna shut up, vote on who will win and then that's the end of it. This Mercer business is bull****, Haye is gonna choose one of the above and it's a done deal.
