Even the first MAB vs Manny had its questions. I mean Barrera was havin problems before the fight, his closest people exposin him about the head injury, and seein him completely unable to perform and get any sort of punch off had him lookin dead in the water from the start. The fact he couldn't fight his normal way anymore and had to resort to a more linient style in order to keep his name up there is enough to tell he was definantly not the same. I mean there's definantly a small group of fighters that could have done the same as Paq did. I mean Barrera's only chance at puttin up a fight would prove to be against older fighters like Morales and Marquez.

And I don't look at those as "excuses," I look at em as factors to what made the fight what it was.

As for fights where the losers have no excuses, theres more then enough to mention I bet. I'm sure there's a few in the past between vintage fighters that I have no clue about. But Cotto Marg, both we're fairly matched. Casa Marquez, I did not see that outcome coming because Marquez was goin up against a bigger guy when Juan himself doesn't even have his old arsenal. I mean he use to be real fast, less skilled, but real fast. Pavlik Taylor obviously, that was crazy. There's more I'm sure.

I haven't heard any excuses about the first Holyfield - Bowe fight. Holyfield who usually comes up with something (heart problems, hepatitis, shoulder injury, the ring was too springy...) had nothing to say about it.

Few can complain about Leonard's first win over Thomas Hearns.

I've tried to think up several (Leonard - Duran I, Ali - Frazier I, Frazier- Foreman, Ali - Foreman, Hagler - Hearns) but there always seems to be some excuse.
