Great wins where there are no excuses that can be made for the loser...

And that includes when someone gets "exposed"... like Cotto losing because his chin gave out... That was kind of seen as the downfall of Cotto and it ended up being as such.

Pretty much, I'm asking for "the perfect win". The only one I can think of right now is...

    Manny Pacquiao-Marco Antonio Barrera I

By the way, super close decisions that could have easily gone the other way don't count either... so Morales-Barrera I = no dice.

Let's see what you all can come up with!

Same here, although I don't think they are going to be easy to come up with. I mean, really, these are the groundbreaking wins that are the best wins in boxing for a series of years for the most part.

How often does a fighter win, and you just go... "Wow, that was about as perfect as that could have been. I can't think of anything negative to say to devalue this victory."?

I don't know if they truly exist.

People can always make some sort of excuse.

What excuse could they make for Barrera or De La Hoya in the two cited above?

They weren't shot. They were focused. They were on top the of the world. They had been beating legitimate contenders right and left. I just can't imagine what someone could say to justify why those wins weren't damn near perfect.

For Pacquiao-Barrera, there was Barrera's distractions from the fire at training camp, marital problems, the media asking too many questions about his metal head. People often now say Barrera was past it, although very few people said that in 2003.

With Mosley-DLH I, people say "DLH fought a dumb fight". Bob Arum tried to claim that DLH was tired because he didn't train hard enough (I don't buy that, DLH was in great shape). I don't think Arum said it to downgrade Mosley, he was trying to say that DLH wasn't focused enough.

People, at least on boxing forums, will usually find something to bring up and downgrade a win.

I rarely pay attention to the excuses.
