I disagree. I watched that fight for the first time recently and I thought Nunn was winning most of the rounds but Toney was breaking him down and he was landing more and more as the fight went on. The reason he caught him with the "lucky punch" is because he was breaking him down and tiring him out and Nunn got sloppy. It wasn't like Toney was getting his ass kicked the whole fight, he was just not doing quite enough to win the rounds.
Nunn could have beat Toney if he didn't try to out fight him on the inside as much. If he had kept him at the end of his jab it would have been an easy fight for him. Don't get me wrong, he had his moments on the inside but I just feel that when the fight stayed inside, Toney was getting the better of him.
I also think Toney would have defeated him again in a rematch. I don't think Nunn ever got back to the way he was after that fight.Comment

With that said, an excuse can always be made for a fighter losing. You can always say "it was just a lucky punch" but that doesn't mean it's right.
Toney didn't duck Nunn for a second fight. Nunn moved up to SMW immediately after the fight while Toney stayed at MW until 92 and fought 5 times before moving up to SMW. I guess you could argue that Toney ducked him at SMW to fight Roy Jones Jr.
Moving on...
How about when Lamon Brewster defeated Wladimir Klitschko in their first fight. Brewster took a beating and just came back and kicked Wlad's ass. Can anyone think of an excuse for that one? Sure... He had a ****ty trainer and he didn't have good stamina.Comment
