18 lbs!!! That's sick! For sure that cannot be healthy.
Clottey-Corrales was worse though. They both weighed in at 149, and here are the weights on fight night:

    Corrales 160 (That's okay)
    Clottey 170 (21 lbs. WTF)

Wow. You'd figure it be easier for him to make weight since he's moving up. He always did come in real heavy on fight night previously though.

What promoter would ever give Guzman another title shot after pulling this stunt?

If Guzman doesn't step into the ring tonight, his career is ruined. I doubt even Don King could negotiate a fight with any of the other big names at lightweight after this disaster.

If Guzman moved up to light welter, I would fancy any champion at that weight to beat him.

Bye Joan, You wasted your career.

Completely unprofessional on Guzman's part. I'd say suspend him, but the guy never fights anyway. He needs to be fined heavily. I was really looking forward to this fight. Bull****.

Those are the same weights for Margarito-Santos 2. Even someone with an iron chin will have problems if hit by a guy 10lbs heavier.

The last 2 rounds of Clottey-Corrales were too one sided. Chico really seemed to be in trouble, I was surprised he went the distance.

Is Guzman fat, or simply too built up?

The most famous (infamous that is) I remember is Joey Gamache vs. Arturo Gatti. Both weighed in at the agreed upon limit of 141. By fight-time Gamache was 144 and Gatti a whopping 160 lbs!

Gamache got a severe trashing and braindamage in that fight. He never fought again.

he said he was weight training for the first time in his career, so I guess he bulked up
