Ive watched all his fights and it wasnt until 2 weight classes above welterweight and years later he was hurt. Against one of the p4p hardest hitters of his era in Trinidad was he hurt. And that was after 100 power shots and a few FREE ones. Mayorgas pressure back then was crazy, he didnt even loop his shots like he does now. People talk about his bad skills and defense but Lewis,Forrest or Spinks didnt really even hit him very clean. Cotto went life and death with Torres, Mayorga would shut the lights out.

Cotto might be able to win on points but no way does he stop him.
Then again, Mayorga hasn't faced anyone as complete as Cotto, what I mean by complete is that Cotto can fight on the inside and outside with power, Forrest and Spinks don't punch as hard as Cotto and don't fight as well on the inside either.

Don't forget that Cotto was draining himself to make 140 at that point against Torres.

Dont compare Margaritos weak comp against Mayorgas. Margarito has never seen power anything close to a Tito Trinidad at Middleweight. If he did Margarito would crumble.

You are correct I did gloss that over slightly. As good as Margarito's chin is he hasn't been in there against a guy who hits anywhere near as hard as Tito.

Cotto by KO, and it wouldn't even be close.

it would be a GREAT brawl.

i dont think either man can stop either really...cotto is too sly for mayorga and mayorga is just too crazy to get ko'd...haha.

it would be worth $50 easily...

may sound crazy but i'd pay $50 to watch those two go at it in 09...it would be an intense war for 12 rounds.

This wouldn't even be competitive. Cotto breaks him down (brutally) and stops him in 7.

Yea, Cotto definitely stops him. Mayorga had a great chin, but he trusted it too much. Plus I think Cotto would have been able to get to Mayorga's body with those crazy wide punches Mayorga throws.

                      Cotto late stoppage.
