If Mayorga comes in weighing the same he did against DLH...then Mayorga K.O's him.

Mayorga, who keeps himself even more wide open than Margarito, will easily lure Cotto into head hunting...

Cotto by knockout, he should be able to block most of Mayorga's punches with his defense and would wear Mayorga down with body shots on the inside, I think he'd knock Mayorga out late.

Agree with this perspective. What enabled Margarito to implement his fight plan so effectively was his extremely good chin. Although Mayorga was very tough his chin was not at any point as good as Margarito's. Cotto's effective power punches would have eventually worn Mayorga down and I also think he would score a late stoppage.

Thats one statement that I cant skip on. Mayorga in his prime at 147 was never even pushed back, let alone hurt. He knew this to, how many other fighters give free shots? Ive watched all his fights and it wasnt until 2 weight classes above welterweight and years later he was hurt. Against one of the p4p hardest hitters of his era in Trinidad was he hurt. And that was after 100 power shots and a few FREE ones. Mayorgas pressure back then was crazy, he didnt even loop his shots like he does now. People talk about his bad skills and defense but Lewis,Forrest or Spinks didnt really even hit him very clean. Cotto went life and death with Torres, Mayorga would shut the lights out.

Cotto might be able to win on points but no way does he stop him.

Keep in mind that Ricardo Mayorga has never been stopped at Welter Weight. He started his career at JW, and his last fight was at SMW! The only two men to stop him since his pro debut have been legends in de la Hoya and Tito. The Tito fight was a war, and even though the Oscar fight was an ass whipping, Mayorga went down swinging and connected cleanly a few times.

Mayorga's best weight was easily WW, and he has never been stopped there, he had (has) an amazing chin and great hand speed (still does). He would KO Cotto within 3 rounds, just like Forrest.
