Cotto Margarito rematch in 2009?

spacing and timing, he'll never be in posession of. margarito, its no secret that he gets by on sheer size, chin and strength. he did better with cotto in the later rounds because cotto didn't aptly space himself - CLINCH - with clinching he'll make margarito have to resort to less useful weapons like a jab.

the broken nose early on in the fight i believe had something to do with cotto's immense lack of conditioning in the 2nd part of the fight.

give it time, with some adjustments a better game plan cotto can win this fight next go' round. you need to tie this man up and not let him work the inside, if cotto can get around his pride and tie him up - its his to win.

I respect Cotto but I think it's wishfull thinking on your part. Reminds me of Junior Jones vs Barerra, it was just one of those things. I know Barerra was the better boxer but Jones was to much for him.

I don't see this fight going any different. If Cotto was bigger and stronger then he would have a chance.

This is hilarios **** here, he did all you said about pot shotting Marg in their fight and he got a far worse beating than Rodney King, most definitely, if Cotto wants to be treated like an animal Margarito wont treat Cotex like a puppy, he'll treat him like a sweet puppy, than hed give technically sound Cotex a puppy beatdown like when they dont listen to their master

Why not Marg by KO? Hahaha, I don't see this fight going much different. I see Marg walking through Cotto's punches, running him down and KO'ing him.

????? Cotto fought a perfect fight but couldnt sustain it for 12 rounds. I dont see the next fight going a different route. You can have a million gameplans but they dont mean a thing if your opponent doesnt allow you to execute them......Either way I still see it going either way...Cotto is still a great fighter...

Cotto didn not fight perfect and he is capable of better. He went in with the game plan of schooling Margarito and giving him a boxing lesson. Id like to see Cotto sit on his shots a little more and then see how Margarito takes them. Also TRY to get to Margaritos body this time.

Im not saying Cotto will do all this but thats what he needs to do and i think its possible.

its really not wishful thinking, i do hold cotto to an elite level and for him to do this he has to get by a guy whos physically just over imposing like a margarito.

he has the tools to jab and cross this man to death, clinch when he needs to and do it over, maybe throw him to the ground and really throw him off his game.

If you want to talk about not throwing to the body, then you don't understand boxing.

Cotto can't trade body shots with Marg, it just can't happen. In order for you to throw to the body, you have to be in close with your opponent, do you really think that would be smart for Cotto?

He already was catching upercuts all day, which happens to be Marg's best punch and you want him to stand there even longer taking more punishment?

There's nothing Cotto can do to beat Margarito other than turn into Floyd Mayweather Jr. and that's not happening.

Margarito gets beat by out boxing him for 12 rounds and not getting hit or walked down by him. There are very few if any fighters that can do that. Floyd is the only one that comes to mind. If you stand and trade with him, you will get KO'd.

I think Cotto gets beat even worse in the rematch because Cotto is a prideful dude and he will stand and try and trade more with Marg causing the fight to end even earlier than the first.

I agree. I dont see the fight going much differently. He's not fast enough to stay away for too long or strong enough to take a pounding. He can only hope to land some nasty liver or kidney shots.

barrera losing to junior jones is nothing, cotto losing to margarito; a mexican, now thats something.
