If Margarito didn't drop from the bombs Cotto threw in that first fight,
    I doubt he will again.

This will be a hell of a fight and one of the few I'd shell out a lot to see, but with the iron chin of Marg, Cotto's tech will have to make it the full 12, in which case he might land the cards.

    KO 9, Margarito

really looking forward to Margarito-Clottey rematch as well if it happens.

cotto is a determined fighter. he believe he can get even with margarito, and i admire him for that reason alone though i don't see him surviving with margarito the second time around. why is he in a hurry to have a rematch? if he reviewed the tape, he already unload his power punches to margarito's body, head and chin but the man was still standing and chasing him from one corner to the other as if he was not hit at all. that would have scared him.

true, when pacquiao lost to morales in their first fight, pacquiao asked for a rematch. it was understandable because pacquiao survived the 12 rounds even with cuts from round 3 and bleeding until the bell rings. but the case of cotto is different, he was outboxed by margarito beginning round 6 until he was knocked out. but he asked for a rematch.

damn, i admire the courage of this man. because margarito himself does not have the courage to seek revenge with williams!

There is no point in a rematch. The result was destined to happen based on the characterisics of these guys. Honeslty I couldnt understand why everyone had Cotto as the favorite considering he had been hurt against weaker punchers and he was going up against a non stop bomber. Unless Cotto can develop a stronger chin and floyd like footwork he can forget about this one.

I have to disagree a bit... I think Cotto has a hell of a chance to win if he's mentally still the same. Cotto now knows what happens and is going to happen. That's the same reason why so many ppl who upset someone loose their rematch afterwards. I think Cotto was more mentally beat in this match then physical. He took some punches but I have seen him hurt badly and that wasn't the case against Margarito. I think it had to do with different things...

Cotto never experienced something like that because until then everboydy was hurt or had respect after feeling his power. Margarito ain't. That's not easy for some1 to handle mentally... now he doesn't have to throw every punch as a bomb. That should help him with his stamina.

He also has to look out to not get his nose broken again... that will help again big time. Margarito will not change... and Cotto can adapt. So this is a nice test to see how good Cotto really is. We have now all seen that this is a match that he can't win because of size differences. It's simply too much. But great boxers can adapt their style and win fights. There is always some1 whi is faster then you... or stronger or whatever... so you got to adapt. Margarito can't adapt. But Cotto can...

The only thing that worries me is his defence being against the ropes. The dude can't to do that, has to train on it... it's different defending in the middle of the ring or against the ropes... but some Mayweather vids into your dvd player... in the middle of the ring you stay at bay... against the ropes you stay close... it's so easy... let's go...

The one poster here is right... Margarito Fans are annoying *loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool*

wow margarito wins this fight 9/10 times. The styles and size wont change. I'm really not that interested in this fight. I wanted to see clottey, than williams for margarito Las vegas is a great place for big events like this. The first one was a success! Cotto loss in a big time pro margarito environment I think a rematch in new york would be cool for cotto and his fans, but i still see the same outcome.

Cotto should win the rematch. He just need to do something he didn't do the entire 1rts fight. Go foward, and hit Margarito to the body arm and shoulders. He was to much of a boxer in the fight and that cost him the fight.Because he was so tire of running the first half of the fight that he couldnt finish it. With all the respect that margarito deserves, That fight was not what Margarito did(because he do the same thing in all his fights) it was what Cotto didnt do. Cotto have to mixed it up a lot more with margo, so he can make Margo throw and open his body for punches, (he can do that by going foward). In the early rounds(1-4) he shold mixed it up, go in,out but going forward,in the middle rounds(5-9) is when he have to box(stick and move) and in the championship rounds(10-12) he have to mix, going foward a little bit and boxing at the same time.Giving Margarito different looks in the fight. Making margo pay for everything in the ring. Easier said than done, but it can happen and cotto still have the tools to win even by KO. But I still respect Margarito for winning the first fight the way he did, he is a great warrior!!!!

i said it before the fight, the fight proved it, and i will say it again. Cotto can not go to the body against margarito. To do damage to the body you have to go inside and stay there!!!! Cotto DOES NOT want to go inside with margarito. If cotto goes in there trying to work the body he is dead even faster but his camp is smarter than that. They need to work on him circling margarito instead of backing up and they need to get cotto aware of where he is at and get off the ropes. He took some serous punishment laying on the ropes. Going to the body more will get cotto kayoed quick! Fighting margarito inside is not the key lol

I agree with you in the part that Cotto have to work in how to circle Margarito instead of backing up and get out of the ropes. But I still think Cotto is strong enough to **** it inside, he just need to believe in it. And not taking anithing away from Margos punching , but Cotto didnt when down in any punch, he just when to a knee out of exhaustion. He was dead tire!!!

Very good point. If Cotto wants this rematch it's because he knows that he can do something different this time around. He would have thought he could knock Marg out and when that didn't happen he didn't have a solid back up plan.

He could out-box Marg pretty easy in a rematch if he trains to stay well off the ropes and in the middle ring and learn how to clinch when Marg gets close enough to try and work. He will also have much more stamina at the end if he tries to lay back on the power and just go for speed to confuse Marg, because if there is one thing Marg isn't, it is fast.

There were a lot of mistakes that Cotto made that played straight into Margs' fight plan. Now that he knows that and if he can adjust accordingly and fight the proper fight he could definitely win.

                      this will be awesome.

Arum is putting together some GREAT stuff.

Cotto back in Puerto Rico for a tune up (kind of like the urkal fight in san juan) and margarito will be in L.A. for a tune up...ON THE SAME NIGHT...so this could turn into a triple header (if hbo shows an undercard which they very well could).

I also hope it takes place in new york...it would probably do the best numbers there.

                      Awesome stuff.

cant wait for 2009...it already looks like its getting off on the right foot.
