doubtful. Pavlik really wouldn't be able to beat Calzaghe, apart from the obligatory punchers chance which he probably doesn't really have, he has bludgeoning power and he wouldn't hit Calzaghe on his worse night that much to get him out of there.

I really don't think he's afraid of Pavlik. Calzaghe can make more money fighting other fighters and he is at the end of his career so he wants to get paid. Can hardly blame the guy.

They both have fights coming up so let's wait until they happen. Pavlik vs. Calzaghe might happen.

I do not think Joe is afraid, nor do I think any quality professional boxer is truly afraid to get in the ring with another boxer.
However, he understands the risks and does not want to take the chance with a young, powerful, hungry Pavlik.

He would rather fight a 40 year old Roy Jones.

Of course he is. That's why he's trying out that new type of therapy I read about recently...it's called "Cash Therapy". Because he's so terrified of Pavlik, he's taking the fight with Jones instead (a far less dangerous opponent, slow, feeble, inexperienced) for a positively monstrous amount of cash, simply to make him feel better about his fear of Pavlik.

Seriously, I'd rather fight Jones, too. Huge payday, big name, and it'll probably be his last fight so he's got to cash in on it as much as possible. Even if Pavlik were the perfect fighter and the entire world thought he should fight Kelly, he'd still fight Jones, just for the payday, and I do not blame him, no, not one damned bit.

i agree that calzaghe would win and that he's not afraid of him, its just that that doesn't make it ok for calzaghe to duck pavlik.
