Calzaghe Fires Verbal Jabs at Roy Jones and Pavlik

All of the people on here saying Joe Calzaghe cant fight are idiots. You might not be a fan of his but at least give him the credit he deserves.You all thought he would lose against Lacy,Kessler and Hopkins but he won them all,then you all have a reason as to why he won. Cant you just admit he is a good fighter instead of whining about him like a bunch of little girls. Also for all you clowns that say hes avoiding Pavlik, if he had decided to fight Pavlik instead of Jones you would be saying that hes avoiding Jones,so just give it a rest.

Back in late 2005 people were saying Calzaghe was avoding all the hungry young fighters, then he opened a can of whupp ass on Lacey.

The comments the were very, very similair to what I am seeing today.

Let's look at the facts:

(1) Calzaghe has beaten Hopkins.Yes, a very ugly win but a win nonetheless with him throwing more punches against Hopkins than any other fighter had managed.
(2) Calzaghe has beaten everyone he has put in front of him including Kessler who is at his peak of his powers who personally I think would hand Pavlik a beating.
(3) Other than Taylor, Pavlik's resume at this stage of his career is not actually as good as Joes. By the age of 25 Calzaghe had already beaten Chris Eubank who at the time was a top middleweight contender.
(4) Calzaghe loves to fight one dimensional come forward boxers. Styles make fights and this one is perfect for Joe.
(5) Pavlik is fighting at 160. I am not convinced that his power will be quite as pronounced if he fights at 175.

I could go on but I hope I have made my point.

It will be very intersting to revisit this debate once Hopkins has fought Hopkins as by then we will have a better idea of how Pavlik fights at higher weight classes.

Eubank was well past his prime and fought Joe at short notice after Collins pulled out. He was an unprepared aging veteren.

He was fav in all those fights. RJJ fight shouldn't have been made.

Why would he do that? He just won the WBA title at 168 and hasnt achieved his goal of dominating that division.

Moving up has got to be an option for him certainly. He has a big frame and would easily carry the additional weight and there are a heap of big fights he can make there. I don't like him in there against Chad but I think he would do very well against the other top guys there.
