its funny its almost like some ppl want to believe him. and you think americans will hype up pavlik more for beating hopkins, be serious man. supermiddleweight division arguable the weakest in boxing. and the lhw champ was 43. everyone would give him his respect if he beat pavlik and dawson. he'd be respected like lennox lewis, but the slap thing would still be funny

Pavlik is a one dimensional fighter. Left, left, right, forward, forward, left, left, right. I don't understand why Pavlik is given so much respect? Yes, he is a promising fighter, but two wins over Taylor doesn't make you a Calzaghe beater. As Calzaghe stated in the interview above, he loves it when his oppenents come to him. If you have seen the Lacy fight you will understand why. Pavlik would have a better chance of winning if he lets Joe come to him, but I doubt Pavlik will change his whole gameplan to adapt to Calzaghe. However, if this fight does happen and Pavlik does win, I will give him all the credit in the world, because he will be the first man to beat a truly special fighter.

I think Joe is doing a lot of talking about Pavlik mainly because of the British press itself. They want to see a Pavlik fight so he is doing his best to tell them Pavlik is a waste of his time. Pavlik seems to be a thorn in his side as of late. He is the opponent everyone wants for Joe, but Joe just is not interested.

I agree 100%. I remember right before the Hopkins fight he said the man he wants was Kelly now he says that Kelly is not worth it. Not sure whats going on, But I still believe when the dust settles that he will give Pavlik his shot. What if Joe beats Roy and then fights and beats Kelly? What does that do for his legacy?

If he takes Hopkins in a convincing way, I would say he is a top contender to a fight against Joe. On the other hand, a Kessler or Abraham match down the line would deffinatly prove that he should have a fight against Joe. If Joe doesn't choose to retire.

All this talk about old men, do you guys realize that Calzaghe is 10 years older than Pavlik? If he takes Pavlik, you should, no matter what, respect him. And if you don't do that you are clearly just a hater, and not a fan of the sport. Nuff said.
