Margarito never asked for a rematch? Lie? Here is the quote:

After Williams won a unanimous decision over Margarito in July of 2007, Williams turned down their immediate rematch request and they were forced to petition the WBO to place Margarito in mandatory position. I was provided with a copy of the petition letter that was sent to the WBO after Margarito's defeat.

According to Diaz, the WBO turned down their request for an immediate rematch and gave Williams permission to make an optional defense before such a rematch could take place. Margarito says that he waited on the sidelines for months and was forced to take a keep-busy fight against Golden Johnson last November because Williams did not return to the ring until February of this year. Because Margarito feels that he was forced to wait, he now wants to make Williams wait.

Simple economics. This is the boxing BUSINESS,can Margarito make more money fighting: A.DeLaHoya,Cotto,Mayweather or B. Williams ? I am also quite sure that now that Margarito is the man at 147,he wants to rub it in Williams face a bit right or wrong.Whats wrong with Williams taking on a Judah,Mosely,or even a Daniel Santos fight to build up his name more? I'm sure any of those 2 would fight him as they are also trying to either return to the spotlight or in Santos case get there.

Because he doesn't have to, he's reckognized by most as the best WW in the world, why not make him itch and fight another beltholder. From a realistic point of view this wouldn't hurt Tony's reputation as I as a boxing fan believe Clottey is definitely the same calibur of fighter Williams is.

I'm sick and tired of Williams moaning about being ducked, hardly anyone knew his name last year, then Goossen decides to hype him up because of his freakish features as a fighter. Hell if I were 5'6" to 5'9" I wouldn't want to fight someone like Williams either, a lot of the top 10 WWs don't rehydrate to 164 freakin' pounds the day of the fight (Quintana II)!! Margarito seems to be willing to but likes to fight another couple of big names in the division and why not. Like I said before I think a rematch should happen, but Williams should try to make a name the old fashioned way (fighting) instead of running his mouth. A safe fight like Andy Kolle, tune up or not, hardly impresses me. I'm sure there's plenty of top 10 guys at 160/154 for him to fight until Tony's available again

Cheezy,Let me make this simple for you. Who is the man in the WW division right now? And has the POSITION and EARNING power that Williams wants? Margarito, therefore is rubbing it in Williams face by making him wait in line and earn his shot. Also can Margarito make more money by fighting the big names like DLH or Cotto or by fighting Williams? Even Clottey, after his fight with Judah on HBO has more juice than Williams right now.Williams needs to defend his alphabet title 1 or 2 times impressively without getting upset like he did against El Indio and he'll land a big fight.Let him fight Daniel Santos with the winner to fight Tony.
