Why does everyone hype Pavlik? Comparison with Kessler

Disagree. Pavlik has the better resume and if they were to fight it would be 50/50.

I could type a great deal more but I have had this debate with several other posters over the last couple of months and have grown tired of it.

The fact that Pavlik beat Jermain Taylor, whereas Kessler lost to Calzaghe is what gives his resume the edge. You can't overlook the fact that Taylor was the man who ended Hopkins run at MW, and he also faced stiff competition when he was MW champ. The other names on their resumes go in Kessler's favour, his title wins and defences are better than anything Pavlik accomplished pre-Taylor.

Pavlik didn't fight Hopkins?

I think both records are very similar. With not a clearly better fighter.

Andrade and Mundine are more of a threat then Zuniga and Miranda. And Calzaghe is more of a threat then Jermain Taylor.

Pavliks record isn't that good. And i think Kessler smokes him.

Oh my god, 1st you talk of god about Mundine and turn around and diss Kelly. so let me get this straight Green, Soliman, Ottke is better then Taylor2, Miranda, Zertuche. Crazy

Taylor fought and beat Hopkins, which makes him a great name to have on your resume, even if (like me) you don't actually think he is very good.

You are right, there is not a great deal of difference in their resumes. Overall Kessler has fought the better standard of opponents, but Pavlik beating Taylor means he has beaten the best of the two.

As fighters, I see Kessler as being much better, he's more skilled, faster and sharper than Pavlik. If they fought I think he would win quite easily.

I would go with Kessler but both fighters are pretty even. We can argue all day but it's too close too call

Pavlik in my opinion would beat Calzaghe and Mundine. Calzaghe doesn't have anything on his punches to make Kelly think twice and Mundine is just not good. Hope i didn't upset any fan boys with those remarks, wait i don't even care. LOL
