I think Kessler can last until hes 34. As a champion.

IDK, But he needs to step it up. After Calzaghe he went into hiding. I'm still wondering why he passed Miranda up cause he would have dominated and looked good on american TV. I think he should fight the winner of Taylor- Lacy., Or maybe Pavlik. There is so many different option for him. He just needs to move his Danish ass to the states. Sky is the limit for him, But time is ticking.Comment

i agee with abadger on point 2 that it is harder for some european fighters to break into the mainstream market in america just look at froch and how he chased taylor who instead opted to fight lacy. now thats a fight that doesn't make sense froch is probably one of the top4 SMW's in the world and is being ducked because hes too high risk.
anyway back to kessler, imo kessler may need to go up to 175 which shouldn't be hard for him anyway and take on a few fighters there. it may get him more recognition in the US. there are alot of good names in the SMW and LHW ranks (taylor, lacy, hopkins, calzaghe, tavrer, johnson, dawson). yet most of these guys have fights already lined up, or are with different companies, networks blah blah blah.
bottom line i dont see any of these fighters taking on a high risk/low reward fighter like mikkell any time soon. instead kessler big break will proabably come frm the division below - pavlik. pavlik is a fighters fighter and regrdles of what you say about him or the bandwagon following him he does come to fight and take on the best. pavlik is finding it harder and harder to make the 160 limit and going up against taylor then down against lockett and ten back upagain to 170 for hopkins cant be good for him. kesslers team should sell the fight to kelly, telling him that he would make the weight easy and by beating mikkel he woul be seen as the heir to the SMW crown. but kessler may need to take the smaller purse which i hope he does, against mirnda he seemed unwilling to do that and it was bit of sticking point.
i think mikkell despite his age is still relatively hungry and is a young 29 if you will. he hasn't been in alot of wars or gruelling fights and alays loks to be in good condition so i think that he could be champ till his early thirties then his physical skills will start to decline.
who nows how he will do ater this he may go on and be an even better champion you never know - look at fighters like hopkins and calzaghe who adapt and flourish. kessler is an incredibly economical fighter, in his fight with calzaghe almost all of his punches landed and very few were wasted, hes also very sharp and has good timing and technique i can see him being a good counter puncher later in his career. who knows?

Kessler vs Taylor would be a great fight but don't think it would happen. European boxing is a complete mess in comparrison to USComment

Best case scenario is that he gets a fight on US TV with the winner of Froch-Pascal-Taylor-Lacy situation, but that won't be for a while yet. In the meantime I guess it depends if he wants to fight the best or to get a lot of US attention. Sadly those two things do not go hand-in-hand at 168.
In my opinion, Bute is the 2nd best fighter in the division.
Bute and Kessler are both very good fighters with heavy hands. I don't want to sound like a broken record, but all the talk of "if you come and fight in the US, you'll be treated like we treat our own" is not really a fair representation of the situation.
Kessler vs Bute would be a great fight, and it would be a unification fight, involving two exciting, aggressive fighters, but it would not get 25% of the attention of Lacy-Taylor, even though that's a meaningless tune-up in many respects.
If the fight happened in America, no one would care. If it happened in Europe, it'd be dismissed as two Euros fighting in Eurobumland.
Another option would be Allan Green. It'll get more attention than anything else that's available, and hopefully increase the interest in him fighting Taylor or Pavlik.
Glenn Johnson is another possibility, and a fight that I'd like to see, but it would mean moving up when he doesn't need to, which may harm his performances.
He'll be criticised, whatever happens. Taylor and Pavlik have other plans, so rule them out. If he beats Bute, it won't get much interest in the US and Bute will be dismissed as another padded record Euro etc. If he fights an American, he'll get some attention, but when he shows that the American in question is actually not that good, the win will be devalued by the same morons on here who picked the American to win in dominant fashion. And no matter what he does, they will ask why he ducked Pavlik and Taylor.
Beating Johnson in impressive fashion, and still being able to make 168 afterward, would be ideal, although I'm not sure if this is realistic. 175 is basically a bunch of old men and Chad Dawson. If he fights the old men, he's ducking Dawson. If doesn't he's ducking the old men. If he tries to fight Dawson, who is to say he will have anymore luck than Diancou?
Diancou tried for a fight with Dawson. No doubt if Diancou wins and looks good, it won't matter because "who did he beat?"
Honestly, the EU should fund this website. I didn't feel any sense of European identity until signing up here, but now I feel a great empathy for the average Romanian boxing prospect!
People on here like to say "who has Kessler fought?" but if you look at The Ring rankings, he's fought 3 of the other top 4 guys in the division. Margarito and Hopkins are the only other guys of whom that can be said. If people wish to criticise his resume than so be it, but the idea that he's ducking anyone, or that he has ever ducked anyone, is just BS.
Maybe he should fight Gary Lockett, because apparently beating him up for 3 rounds makes you as impressive as a prime Tyson

I will fight anyone anywhere. I want a big fight in the US. Mikkel here. The reason why i didn't fight Miranda was a problem with the contracts. I had recently broke my dish washer. And i wanted Miranda and his team to put it in the contract that they will buy me a new one. But Miranda didn't add it in the contract. So i showed im the viking warrior. And that contracts are only for warriors. And i didn't sign it, because i am the viking warrior. And i told him, Miranda i have a 73 inch reach.Best case scenario is that he gets a fight on US TV with the winner of Froch-Pascal-Taylor-Lacy situation, but that won't be for a while yet. Anyway.
I remember seeing a thread on here about "boxers who will never fight abroad" and 2 posters named Kessler. Utter ******s some people are...
And it isn't enough to say that these are just a few insignificant morons. The fact is that they are a lot more numerous than that.Comment
