I have a hell of a lot of respect for Margarito but he needs to check his comments a little bit because they ring of “sour g****s” and are totally disingenuous. First off, as far as the not having respect for De La Hoya no matter what you personally think of the man he accomplished too much and has also done far too much for boxing not to earn every boxing fan’s respect. So I’m going to take a “leap of faith” and assume that in addition to being a great competitor in the sport, Margarito is also a fan of it as well and thus should re-evaluate his assessment of De La Hoya.

Also despite what Margarito says in this interview he would still love to have the opportunity to fight De La Hoya. And why is that? Because of the potential financial gains that he would make from the match. I don’t blame him for that at all, just like I don’t blame De La Hoya for wanting to make his money, so for Margarito to make these comments just makes him look foolish. And even though I don’t know the man personally I highly doubt he is.
