Theres a reason Margarito is fighting a guy he already beat (Clottey) for less money then he would by fighting a rematch with a guy who beat him easily (Williams). Both him and Arum know Williams will beat him. Do you really think Arum wants to see another one of his WWs lose when he couldve just got Goossens only player (Williams) out of the picture?? Of course not. But he and Margarito's camp know Williams is by far the toughest fight out there and Margarito will probably get hurt this time around so they are avoiding him like the plague. Arum said the fight will NEVER HAPPEN not even for 10 MILLION in case people need a reminder.
So now all of a sudden fighting Clottey is "cherry picking" and "playing it safe"?

okay i'm bored of this thread.
i'll leave with this......
The Ring Rankings at 147 at the end of 2006:
Floyd Mayweather Jr. - Champion
1.Antonio Margarito
2.Carlos Manuel Baldomir
3.Miguel Angel Cotto
4.Zab Judah
5.Luis Collazo
6.Kermit Cintron
7.Oktay Urkal
8.Arturo Gatti
9.Paul Williams
10.Joshua Clottey
It's been 2 years almost since Floyd won the linear belt at 147. I'm still waiting for him to fight a top guy 147 guy. Hopefully when he comes back from retirement.
Let's try to give Marg at least half that amount of time before we start saying he's ducking Paul. One year is not that long.Comment

Well you;re trying to compare this situation to the Mayweather situation back then, I dont know why you're trying to bring Baldomir and judah who were both ranked higher margarito in 2006 into now (2008) 2 years later..
I actually like the clottey fight but the facts remain no matter who Rito fights he would be scrutinize because his at the top now,the same thing happened to Mayweather so am not surprised, If he choose to fight Williams or oscar people would still say he ducked Clottey....You cant please everybody when you're at the top its that simpleComment

Good post, I can ride with that. But isn't it comical how Margs fan are justifying how less of a fighter Williams is and even say he is begging Margs? True fans aren't questioning Margs, it's fans questioning Margs fans logic. The thread starter is a Cotto fan so go figure lol. I'm all for Margs getting a pay day. What if that payday is less than the 4 mil Goosen offered Margs. Hmmmmmmm...Firstly, I'm not a Margarito fan at all, just giving my view as a boxing fan.
I agree with you Margarito - Williams is a much more appealing contest, but it doesn't have to happen straight away. Why not fight in 2009 with them both having picked up another win or two, building the hype, giving both a couple of paydays (remember Marg has just been through an extremely tough bout with Cotto so is entitled to a break from superfights) and then making it more of an event when they do meet.
Patience, I'm sure it will happen!Comment
