The major one, on his EYEBROW, was not hindering his vision even slightly, and had been under control within a round. He got it in the 3rd. and he won the next 3 rds, although the judges only gave him 2 of them. The dr stopped the fight, and gave several different reasons, when he realised that he's made a mistake.
Although maybe he didn't make a "mistake", maybe he had a big bet on the outcome.
There's no doubt -in my mind anyway- that Lewis might not have finished the next round. He was done, had given his best, and had lost at least the previous 2 rds.and was worn out. Klitschko, on the other hand, was "rarin' to go", and was broken-hearted that it had been stopped. It was no hasty decision that caused Lewis to retire, after showing his spite against Klitscko by nasty, denigrating comments every opportunity he got, and stringing out the retirement for almost a year. He's NO gentleman, for sure.
Oh yes, I forgot, he reneged on his promise to rematch Klitschko and in fact the date was set, I believe it was around Dec.10th. When Lewis wouldn't fight, pretending that Klitscko's eye (although it was his eyebrow not the eye) wouldn't hold up, Klitschko fought Kirk Johnson instead, and half killed him in a round and a half.
Johnson had been Lewis's original opponent, but had torn a chest muscle and Klitschko stepped in on very short notice. I'm not even sure if Johnson has fought since.
Lewis certainly hasn't..................
