McClellan KOed Jones in the amateurs and that's with head guards on.

Not true. It was a 3 round decision for McClellan from a back and forth war. There was no KO.

Hopkins wins a UD or stops Gerald late.

Thinking about this fight agian today I think hopkins wins this fight relitively easy. Mclellan was a beast with a lot of power but he wasn't that technically skilled. Hopkins would avoid all his big punches and like I said back then he'd get frustrated. He would never be able to land cleanly on bhop. Hopkins by easy UD.

Yes, and Jones tasted the canvas. and lost the fight.

I don't think Hopkins could come close to stopping the G-man. Lets not forget McClennan was suffering from frequent migranes, and was not well coming into the Benn fight, and he would spar with Hearns early in his career, and was never hurt, let alone going down to Hearn's right hands in sparring. Be that as it may Hopkins takes a decision.

                      Hopkins.

McClellan was a vicious puncher, but has become overrated due to the "what could have been" factor, as often is the case. Hopkins had considerably better skills and ring IQ than G-Man, who was becoming increasingly sloppy technically at the end of his career.
