This surprises me for Kelly too, slightly out of character. I'm caught, in one way I like the fact he's talking for himself and speaking out on who he'd like to face, rather than sitting back and letting Arum choose and doing whatever. On the other I think he sounds a tad silly saying it's Enzo whom is the barrier, that is complete bull****. There's an interview on youtube where he says I if Joe performs well I don't think he'll retire and see no reason for him too, infact the recent article on here says almost as much. In another Joes asked is this definitely his last fight and he says, I'm pretty sure it will be, but never say never, and Enzo then says, show us the zero's.

I think Enzo's more up for Joe fighting on and fighting Pavlik, than Joe is. Infact possibly even largely so because Pavlik beat Gary Lockett, and to shut Kelly up and prove to everyone Joes better. That's totally contrary to what Kelly and some fools think, i.e. Joe's somehow ducking based on his stabemate losing, as if Joe hadn't seen him beat other better opponents more ferociously, he has and was talking of Kelly still.

He's right imo, in that it wouldn't be as surprising as some make out if Roy beat Joe, but the same goes for Nard. If your gona talk about any other boxers before your up and coming fight Kelly, at least make it about the ones whom have called you out or up for fighting you for sure, those being Abraham and Kessler.

Abraham has called out Kelly a few times I think, most notably on US TV right after knocking out Miranda.

This is why I struggle to take such talk seriously. Kelly never really talked of Joe much before Arum mentioned it, infact knew little of a deal being discussed. Now in the past few weeks he's talking out more, I think he's got an insight into the dollars it could bring.

If he faced Kessler AND Abraham, it's quite likely he'd end up with a Loss, and that's not the case for Joe.

The thing is, Joe said he'd retire only if he's happy with his performance against Roy.
If he's not, and he loses, then the fight with Pav won't be as big, or won't happen, and if Cal wins, he's gonna retire.

For us who wanna see Pav/Cal, seems to be no way we're gonna get it.
          hope i'm wrong though.

Calzaghe has flip flopped on the issue several times. His basic statement was that if it was a fight he could get excited for, and if he still feels young.
Recently he has said several times he still feels young, and if Kelly beats Hopkins, it steals some of Joes thunder.
If Pavlik beats Hopkins and Calzaghe beats RJJ, Calzaghe will be forced into a corner and have to fight, or look like a coward.

Probably could've made your point more politely, but I agree, Taylor beat Hopkins with less trouble than Calzaghe. Still, as they say, styles make fights, and a guy that can be an easy win for one elite fighter can be big trouble for another, so for me, that doesn't mean as much as it does to others. Also, Hopkins opened up more against Taylor, that makes a difference too.

Whether Calzaghe is a "fraud", as you claim, is still open to debate by many, but while his particular style and methods can seem absurd, they are nevertheless highly effective to date. We'll have to wait until the Jones fight to see how he does against someone with that much ring experience, smarts, speed and counterpunching ability. I think Jones does great for 3 to 5 rounds, then starts gassing a little and slows down, with Calzaghe taking over the rest of the fight.

And for what it's worth, Pavlik is certainly no joke. He's a little slow, and a lot one dimensional, but what he lacks in magination, he makes up for in iron will, conditioning, determination, and heart. Of course being as naturally heavy handed as he is doesn't hurt either, not one little bit. There have been other fighters who were built like him, mentally, and were even moe lacking in physical skills...one of them I can think of right off the top of my head went by the name of Rocky Marciano.

Taylor didnt lose to Ouma and Spinks. Did he fight a great fight against those guys? No, he underperformed, but thats not a loss.
And Jermaine Taylor is a more accomplished fighter than anyone Calzaghe beat, barring old man Hopkins, a win Pavlik will unfortunately share with Joe all too soon.
I dont see why so many people are against the biggest fight out there for Pavlik AND for Calzaghe. And if people are so sure Calzaghe beats, why wouldnt they just want to see the fight happen?

Alot of people don't understand this, but quite simply, Calzaghe is after a big payday, and I don't think there'd be any way to talk him out of this Jones fight unless the money were better. I've said this over and over, but once again, Calzaghe is about to end his career, and he's after his retirement package. That's that. Pavlik might come later, if he doesn't retire, but THAT is why he's fighting Jones, period.

Hopkins beat Taylor twice too. I bet even this Hopkins beats the **** out of Kelly.

                  Disrespectful jerk.
dont kno about ouma, but i hear the spinks decision was a "gift." the winky wright fight, i really had as a draw....and hopkins definitely beat taylor twice. i do think tay;or won the rematch w/ pavlik tho.....
but the argument can be made that taylor lost every fight from hopkins on....he gets respect in my book for never "ducking" any1 tho. thats priceless.

You are right in all accounts. I called JC a fraud just to fire him up (JC#1). I respect Cal, but to call JT a fraud, come on. A victory over JT (for Cal or anybody) is AT LEAST equivelant to the victory over Kessler. Yeah, Locket was a joke, but Cal had a few Manfredo's in his time.
