Puerto Rico, a de facto 51st state, plays less of a role than Britain in world boxing. With the exception of a couple of standout talents (most recently Miguel Cotto) Puerto Rican boxers make up the usual rank and file of boxing's average. The same could be said about Britain of course but with a greater population and more standout talents it's obvious who has greater influence currently.
Whats the most influential country in boxing?

Make no mistake though, Puerto Rico is absolutely tiny, A speck on the planet, Yet they produce some of the best fighters i have ever seen, Great styles and their prospects look good for the future, I would even go as far to say Miguel Cotto is bigger in terms fame and popularity worldwide than any of our current fighters.Puerto Rico, a de facto 51st state, plays less of a role than Britain in world boxing. But that's just fighters, They haven't influenced boxing in a big way in history or present, Great Britain has done a lot for the sport of boxing and continues to do so.Comment

And Great Britain is great for producing characters, villains if you will, remember how many people hated Lewis and Hamed because they were perceived as so arrogant. That kind of thing brings excitement and electricity.Make no mistake though, Puerto Rico is absolutely tiny, A speck on the planet, Yet they produce some of the best fighters i have ever seen, Great styles and their prospects look good for the future, I would even go as far to say Miguel Cotto is bigger in terms fame and popularity worldwide than any of our current fighters.

Then they flipped the script with the every day common guy you can hang out in a pub with, Ricky Hatton, and the fight got insane ratings.
No one touches Trinidad as far as popularity goes, but Great Britain had some fighters who caused a big buzz in the boxing world, hence some megafights.Comment

False, but even if true, you can influence people without leaving your own country.
No, they go to Puerto Rico instead?
How many title fights in the UK this year? How many in Puerto Rico?Comment
