i think hopkins was exposed against calzaghe
we saw he couldnt be competitive with the top guys anymore the early flash knockdown make ppl believe he is still game but he is not he didnt even try to go for the kill, and he actually looked good when he went forward but for most of the fight he was in his shield losing rounds
pavlik workrate is gonna kill any chances of hopkins scoring rounds

A lot of boxing experts and professional fight writers disagree with you. ESPN, Brian Kenny, Dan Rafael, The Associated Press and Yahoo! sports all scored the fight for Hopkins. Not to mention the multitude of intelligent users here who scored the fight correctly. (114-113 for Bernard, 6 rounds a piece, an extra point for the knockdown, giving Hopkins the 1 point win.)

Hahah exposed? Calzaghe won a split decision, how was he exposed? Calzaghe's punches weren't landing nearly as much as the punch stats say, and the ones that did land had no substance to it. The difference is that Pavlik isn't going to be trying to slap Hopkins, or throw short fast shots on the inside. He will be throwing straight punches with mustard on it and Hopkins can see that coming because he is more orthodox and readable. And by exposed I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you meant on how to beat a 43 year old man and not Bernard during earlier points in his career.

dude a whole bunch of people scored the williams margarito for margarito
yahoo sports and a bunch of other press
at the end of the day the judges have the last word
u cant score rounds for hopkins when hes throwing 20 punches per round and landing half, thats gonna make the difference kelly might hit hopkins gloves and shoulders but his workrate is gonna impress the judges

You can't just win a fight by throwing punches, you need to be effective. Calzaghe was landing like **** against Hopkins, and though Compubox releaved he snagged the record for most blows landed against Hops, the punches were ineffective.

Joe landed 45 jabs out of 224 thrown, and he landed 187 "power" (lol1) punches out of 483 thrown. Combined for a total of 232 out of a possible 707.

And while Hopkins threw significantly fewer punches than Joe, his punches were nearly always clean, on the button shots.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought one of the four key scoring criteria is effective aggression? Not aggression itself. Effective, meaning you land what you're throwing.

The only thing Hopkins needs to worry about is his stamina, if thats good for 12 rounds then hes going to beat Pavlik

Did Hopkins even average 20 punches per round?

Let's not forget how ridiculously far off those punch stats were. I don't want to stress this point TOO much, but any round I'd count for myself with the benefit of instant replay and pause, would usually end up with a difference of 5-10 landed punches.

actually u can if the other guy aint doing anything like ive said u really cant win a decision against pavlik he just have so much workrate range and respectable power, even if u outbox him like taylor did the judges are still impressed by his workrate and how dominant he is in the compubox stats
hopkins its one of the most inactive fighters currently the only way he can win is by ko but hopkins is not gonna ko anyone anymore
