He didn't exactly fight defensive. To me he did a little of the opposite, he gave Margarito different angles and then punched from there. If he fought more defense oriented, I would think that means he would need to be on his bike boxing with one punch at a time, which he did not do.
Margarito-Cotto Rematch Would be Life Threatening for Cotto

Its ok... he lost and it was a good performance from Margarito and it was a good idea for him to take a knee... any fighter who has regard for his health and safety would have taken a knee.

and margarito is unfiying the welterweight belts he will eventually fight williams the clottey fight is also very important since a lot of ignorant folks thought clottey only lost because of his hand injuriesComment

He mentioned a rematch down the line & seriously Margarito would probably look down on half of **** you guys say.Comment

Cotto got beaten into submission he was forced to quit
he also got cut badly and got his nose broken and was bleding all over the place, not to mential the mental damage he was inflicted by tony
like another poster said it would be life threatening for cotto to take another fight against margarito
specially cuz in the first fight he fought extremely defensive he never took a step forward he was always running and countering he played it very safe
it still didnt stop margarito from destroying himComment

that comment "if he runs ima knock him out in 8" was never really made by him
but in order to get your point across u have to go to the extreme there is no room for mild comments on boxing sceneComment

Man ya talking about Cotto being defensive? Yet the man landed more than Tony? Because he didnt come forward? How could he? He was being pressured all night long, and if he did attempt to move forward, he would be forced to fight. Cotto took alot of damage while moving back and countering.. he was landing, but so was Tony. I think Cotto would've had a better chance if he took risks trading in the center of the ring. Tony has power, but mostly lands big shots while people are on the ropes.
I mean seriously, ya people on these forums never stop. This is Cotto's first defeat, ok. He still has hope to return. If anyone is in a life threatening state it would be Tony. Defending with your face most of time will not do you good. Yea he can take a punch, but he also took alot of damage in the fight.
And talking about fighters finishing fights on their feet, as I recalled I think Cotto did finish on his feet. He was never knocked out. He did a smart choice. Only people talking about this **** are the Tony fans. It gets annoying, and its getting old. There is a day every fighter will say "No mas"Comment
