I agree he is better at 140, but at 147, being a fighter, your stronger cause you have more weight and muscle on you. He was countered too much and that took a toll on him too. If you hit Ricky enough in the head, regardless of your punching power you can daze him.

good post by felixion, can't help but agree with you i think people want to see ricky as being washed up. personally i think he was alright against juan lazcano - remeber he was facing a fighter who has never been KO'ed.

it was always going to be a tough call to get him out of there yet at times hatton still looked as though he might do it. unfortunately lazcano was like a wounded tiger and was at his most dangerous when he was being hit and hurt by ricky - he hit ricky withsome good punches and hit him flush yes he had him hurt but i dont think rcky was ever in any real danger like he was in the mayweather fight just before he got KO'ed.

anyway i think it depends on which hatton turns up o the fight - if its the ricky which is too eager to impress like he was against lazcano and he then gets reckless i can see malignaggi getting a SD and keeping the fight on the outside. if the hatton who knows how to use his slightly under rated boxing skills shows up and works behind his jab and tries to get that left to paulies body and slwing him down early on then i can see hatton getting a UD or even a KO.

of course the americans will just turn around and say that paulie has never beaten anyone worthy of note but hey what is a fella to do...

Mayweather showed everybody that hatton was a creampuff for a lest hook, Lazcano landed that **** and buzzed Hatton all threw that fight. With that being said, I dont know if Paulies ***get ass hits hard enough to do anything to the ****man. I dont think Hatton is the same fighter he used to be.

I was once a huge Hatton fan ! but that was the old hatton, the one that used to throw multiple shots to the body !
Now i hate the way he fights with that smash and then grab style !
He clinches far to much for me nowa days and smothers his own work to much !
I will be rooting for him though !
But it will be a close fight !

                  If Lazcano can pose problems,

                  Paulie Malignaggi can as well.

Lets be honest lads, I love Hatton as a boxer and as a person, but with the exception of the first few rounds against Urango he WASNT impressive. It was a good win against a lively and underrated, but Hatton didnt look his old self. In fact, since Kostya he's only looked like the fighter he used to be for those 2 and a bit rounds against Castillo.

Against Collazo he was poor. Against Urango he was not as good as he shouldve been. Against Floyd it wasnt just that he was fighting better quality, his style of fighting was poor. Against Lazcano he was good enough, but nowhere near his old form. Hatton still has it in him to beat Paulie and to be a top ten P4P fighter at 140 (dont ever go back to 147 again). But compare him to the fighter he was before the Kostya fight and his old self would knock his new self out within 5 or 6 rounds. Its just a shame that the Americans never got to see him before the Kostya fight. He really was a different animal and it wasnt just because of competition, his style was different.
