      Yeah, just checked. You're right.

That's a big shame, boxing could be HUGE there.

They have their own billionaires and Maserati dealerships in Hong Kong I dont think they would mind some boxers pumping in a little wealth, I know you're right about Cuba but I don't see why China wouldn't allow them to go pro.

what about the Mongolians? are they allowed to turn pro?

The Mongolian featherweight I think it was, the really tall one has been the most impressive boxer at the Olympics for me. Beautifully balanced.

China is run by the Communist party, who have held power for decades, but due to reforms that have taken place in the last decade or so, some argue that they aren't communist in the strictest sense of the word. That's why you are more likely to see Chinese professional sportsmen than Cuban.

There have been reforms in Cuba since Fidel stepped down, but sadly it doesn't look like we'll be seeing Cuban pro boxing any time soon.

Wasn't the guy who KO'd Derry Mathews a Mongolian?

                    That guy deserves a medal.

Exactly so they have "as good as" pro boxers in their amateur teams, same goes for Cuba.
