I don't see it myself. He caught Calzaghe with a good shot, there is no taking that away from him, but the fact is Hopkins wasn't interested in looking for a finish and there was nothing to suggest Calzaghe was even dazed by the KD. Talking about a KO is just pure speculation, especially with a fighter like Calzaghe who has never seriously been hurt in his professional career.

Enough said.
And I'll think what you'll find actually happened is that when Hopkins put Calzaghe down.....he was like "WTF?....he's got back up.....the mans made of cast iron steel....**** this ****"

If Hopkins had spent any time whatsoever looking to make a fight he'd have been stopped. Both Calzaghe and Hopkins are counterpunchers. Apart from Hopkins looks to use his head more.

I felt BHop did enough to win, but Calzags was more intelligent than I thought. Theres no way Hops would ever be KO'd by anyone much less than by Calzags, but it would be a very bad move to try to knock him out. He'd end up losing a good 9 rounds from wasted energy. Calzags was hurt maybe twice in the fight, but he's very durable.

I watched the fight twice (that was my dose of Hopkins for the year) and I can't see anywhere that Hopkins did enough to win. Yes, Calzaghe throws and misses alot, but you have to throw to win. You can't land (and I **** you not) 5 punches throughout a fight and expect to win. You can NOT win a round with a single punch unless it's a knockdown. Hopkins looks great fighting that way, in his own mind, but everybody else thinks it sucks, and I'm surprised any judge even had him close on the cards.
As for being KO'd....sure, he could be, and probably will when he fights Pavlik. Nobody's invincible, but Hopkins is smarter than most and doesn't allow himself to end up in a situation where he can be KO'd, at least not if he can help it. That's what the "low blow" break was about in the fight against Calzaghe...Hopkins was badly gassed and needed the break to survive the late rounds.
Also, I never saw Calzaghe hurt, not at all. In fact I've never seen Calzaghe hurt. Not yet, at least.

That is because he simply no longer posseses the ability to do so. The man is 44 for christ's sake. There DOES come a certain time when numerical age DOES make a difference.
