Frazier had loads more stamina. You think Tyson would be chugging forward like that for 15 rounds? Probably not.

This is the ultimate dream fight. I think Mike woulda had a chance, but he'd be outsmarted and UD'd by Ali. At his best, Ali was just too good for Mike.

        Ali vs. Mike Tyson

This would have been a fascinating fight. Tyson -- the 21-year-old version -- had the Joe Frazier type of attacking speed, and Tyson's punches were fast when he was at his best. Although he would have been giving up five inches in height to Ali, he was more powerful physically, and at about 218 pounds he would have been a bit heavier.

For the first four, five or six rounds, Tyson would have given Ali a desperate struggle. He would have been going at him hard, and Ali could not have avoided all the shots. Tyson's left hook might well have put Ali down -- certainly Ali would have been rocked and staggered. Ali's many admirers would have been very, very worried.

Eventually, though, Ali's cool boxing brain and his character would have pulled him through. He might have been obliged to hang on to get through some rough moments, but Ali's superior will and greater mental stamina would come into play. He would probably talk to Tyson: "Boy, you're getting tired now -- you're in trouble."

There is a good chance that Tyson would have started to unravel as Ali came back at him with jabs, right hands and combinations, in effect bullying the bully. In the later rounds, Tyson would have been wishing he were somewhere else, while the crowd would have been joyously chanting: "Ali, Ali, Ali."

Verdict: Ali by decision or late stoppage.

is this a joke?? prime tyson would beat any heavyweight in the history of boxing.
lol,,,like tyson beat anyone even close to ali's class. ali would have dominated tyson and either make him quit or stop him late. tyson was so overrated it was laughable. he dominated a weak era and mentally fell apart every time an opponent could stand up to his punches and not be afraid to hit back

and frazier was much tougher mentally. anyway,,,that was post prison ali that lost a lot of his foot speed. the pre prison ali would have boxed fraziers ears off

Ali would beat a prime Tyson without a doubt IMO. He had the skills and chin to withstand the intial Tyson onslaught then he would have just proceeded to wear Mike down and score a late round stoppage. Ali just had way too many dimensions to his game to get beat by Tyson.

Ali would beat a prime Tyson. Ali's quick hands and pin-point accuracy would stop Tyson in the late rounds.

But the real question is, would a prime Tyson stop a prime Margarito?

All you had to do to beat Tyson is make it past 4 or 5 rounds. You're VASTLY overrating Tyson.

Are you a ****in' joke? Tyson, prime or not, was barely even top 10 all-time. No way was he even in a prime Ali's class. Ali would KO Tyson in the middle rounds when Tyson realized Ali wasn't intimidated and actually came to fight.

Top 10? Maybe top 15, but 20 would probably be more accurate. Too many other solid heavyweights ahead of him that didn't have the mind of a spoiled 10 year old sitting on top of a 'roid blown body. No way I'd have Tyson in my top 10. Mental midget with solid power, fast hands and no heart.
