Have people totaly discredited Cotto now?

It seems like Cotto isnt talked about half as much now as before the Margarito fight? (maybe its just me)

I think think that Cotto is supremely talented and still has a very good career ahead of him, i think in time he could beat Margerito in a rematch and be recognised as the true number 1 WW

this isnt a dig at Margerito btw, his victory was impresive and im not saying he didnt deserve it but it seems to me like people are now disreguarding Cotto after one loss...

Please discuss (and flame me if you must i know some of you want to lol)

Not at all, Cotto will be back. I am genuinely interested in finding out how if at all the Marg fight affected him. Not dissing Cotto at all by this but the only way we will know is by seeing him in another big fight like he had with Marg. He will be back with some tune-ups and then back to fighting big fights again.
        IMO.

Cotto was never as good as his biggest fans made out, and was maybe a little less good than even neutrals thought too. He is an extremely imposing and destructive fighter when in with anyone smaller/weaker than he is, and has good boxing fundamentals and excellent tactical ability, but was never the versatile boxer some thought. His main skill is being extremely good when coming forward and the ability to know when to back off. His game was enough to beat most welters.

Since losing to Tony, its more a matter of people seeing that, oh yeah, he isn't unbeatable, he can get beat up and his boxing skill really isn't all that. He can come back I'm sure, and be one of the best guys at welter, but as for P4P star and boxing's next big thing, I think that's gone forever. Until we see him in with Williams, and possibly a Marg rematch (which I think its possible for him to win) its hard to say what level Cotto will make his own in the future. He might still come out on top, or he might slip down the rankings. It might be that none of those three are really the best. Whatever, I hope he does come back and that his best performances are still ahead of him.

A lotta fair weather fans have turned on him. That's what happens. A guy loses once and he's "exposed", "overrated", and all that bull****. Cotto will be back, he just won't have as menacing a presence as he had before.

I think people are just a little disappointed that Cotto lost because he was quickly rising to the top and was alot more marketable than Margarito. His fans will come back, he gave a great effort but I think he just had the wrong gameplan and underestimated Margarito's workrate/stamina and chin.

I agree with you, i think he should have a tune up early 2009 maybe and then possibly fight someone like Cintron and then try the rematch with Margarito possibly?

                  He just lost his 0.

So the hype that he had died with his undefeated title!...

But me as a true fan of Cotto believes that he can bounce back from the devastating KO loss he suffered..

I mean he doesn't seem shook to come back..so he must not have been that damaged emotionally..on top of that he's even willing to go in with the BIG puncher Cintron in his Come back in Nov. if Arum agrees...

He still has a few yrs in him and I believe he will avenge his only loss and come and stick to an effective game plan to take Margarito out.

I still think Cotto wins in a rematch. It is hard to talk about Cotto when a Marga****** will ultimately put him down at the mere sight of his name. its like as soon as they see his name he gets flamed by Marga******s.

Cotto was the better skilled fighter who just needs to change his training to beat a simple anotnio margarito.

Cotto will be back and better than ever. I dont believe this "he will never be the same after such a beating" because he didnt go out on a stretcher or didnt get severely hurt, Yes cut up but both Margarito and Cotto took beatings in there.

Cotto will take redemption on margarito just watch
