I thought DLH won, but it wasn't as bad a decision as people have made it out to be. There were some close rounds. You still have to be generous to give it to Trinidad, but the same can be said for DLH against Quartey (a great finish doesn't make up for numerous rounds of doing nothing).
The More Disappointing Fight

Mayweather - De La Hoya.
Yeah I figured Mayweather would run his mouth more than the punches he threw. I did not believe him one second when he said he was going to Knock Out De La Hoya. I knew it would be the same fight as the Carlos Manuel Baldomir fight because I knew Mayweather would run around the ring. I had my money on Mayweather winning by decision; but I wanted De La Hoya to win because I can't stand the trash talking without backing it up. Plenty of more classy boxers just handle their business others talk trash and then go out and KO their opponent or at least make a good attempt.
This fight was horrible, boxing made a mistake hyping it up as much as they did. While it made money today it will effect tomorrow's fights in a negative way as people will remember how terrible this fight was and not want to spend the money to watch again.
Mayweather ran the whole time, sneaking in painless punches only to ****** the punch count to gain points. De La Hoya wanted to fight but couldn't catch up to the fleeing Mayweather. He was initiating all of the contact, if he would of had the same strategy as Mayweather the fight would have ****** much more. Mayweather said he was not afraid of De La Hoya's left hook but he avoided confrontation the entire fight. When 12 rounds are up and no fighter has been hurt, there was not a boxing match worth watching, let alone pay for.
"I could see I was hurting him," De La Hoya said. "I was pressing the fight, and if I hadn't pressed the fight there would be no fight. I'm a champion, and you have to do more than that to beat a champion."Comment

Considering most of the members here have only watched boxing since about 2005, I'm not surprised it's close. Trinidad-DLH was the worst fight of all time given expectations. They were knocking everybody out and fighting top names on a regular basis and put on one of the biggest stinkers you'll ever see.Comment

And how could I forget the decision. Oscar clearly won 8 rounds and it went to Tito. That'd be like giving Oscar the decision over Mayweather.Comment

I didnt think Floyd's fight was that bad.......And I don't know how Oscar got the nod on one of the judges scorecards.Comment

Sadly, the Trinidad-De La Hoya fight was more disappointing because both were on their prime, exciting fighters. Also everyone expected to be a war because they were known as very aggressive fighters. I don't think Mayweather-Oscar fight was so bad.Comment

I don't know... I liked the Mayweather vs DLH fight. I respect defensive fighters and I'm entertained by watching them. The way DLH couldn't land against Mayweather was crazy. I found it funny how DLH got tired in the later rounds and Mayweather started bullying DLH. That **** had me laughing... becuz
DLH was breathing hard and Mayweather started loading up on his punchs, throwing punches like Margarito. DLH thought he can rest for a minute of the round and then try and take it with FlurriesComment

The Tito fight was horrible because DLH beat him but didnt win because he "Mayweathered" the last 2 or so rounds. In my lifetime these were probably the 2 biggest non heavy fights. Imo 2 very very disappointing fights. People talk about how Oscar is saving boxing. But WHEN THEY TUNE IN HE DON'T GIVE THEM WHAT THEY WANT.The tito fight was horrible and the Floyd fight was okay. Which fight in your eyes was worse?Comment
