Charlie Z hitting the Bag!!!!!!! Any improvments or what????

you are improving but you still won't win, its your mentality that sucks..you don't like getting hit.. -
Improved from what? Your punches are arm-punches, leaning your head towards the bag does not make your punches harder, it's the torque of the hips!
I would slow it down, son. Feel out the punches, and not try to look fast. Don't try to punch and move around yet, focus on punching technique.
Your hands are suppose to return to the same position they were in before you threw the punch, on the video your arms dropped as soon as they hit the target and you had to bring it back to your face. In a sparring session, they'd capitalized on that opening!
For the first round or two - just stand in front of the bag and practice with the jab alone. Throw a single jab, then a double jab, finally a triple jab. Repeat.
For the next round do the same thing, then follow it up with a straight punch - single jab, then straight punch. double jab, then straight punch, triple jab, then straight punch.
3rd round - Add a slip to the left and right followed by your jabbing and straight punches.
4th round - You can start circling to your left and right then again sticking with the jab and straight punches.
After working on the heavybag - take the gloves off to shadowbox doing the same combinations you did on the heavy bag with good technique in mind, of course.
I would also do a round of shadowboxing with eyes closed - this really helps you feel out your movement and punches.Comment

Now if you could only find an opponent with no arms and no legs that you can suspend from the ceiling, you'll be all set.
Keep chasing that rainbow!!Comment

It was not the faces. Charlie just unwound as soon as he realized punches were being thrown at his face. The guy seriously needs to spar with full gear and take some shots to the noggin to get used to it.
I've seen some vids of his sparring, but with no gear and only body punching...WTF? That is play ****.
He needs to get real, take this **** seriously, get in some real rounds in sparring and develop himself.
These shortcuts and thinking he has this magical punch that will equalize any opponent will never work. he needs to learn the basics and gain confidence.Comment

I know, but you said the punching bag would have no arms.Charlie is not made for this sport,he has confidence but when in any danger he retreats in fear.Even if Fredie Roach was his trainer I still wouldn't bet a dollar on him aginst any tomato can that can punch. It was not the faces. This is why he needs to start at the beginning. Charlie can learn his way just like anyone else can. What he is doing now is not learning how to fight, but just a method to keep toned.
If he got real sparring in, start him off lightly and then progress it, he will gain something from it and learn. Once he gets used to guys actually throwing punches at him, he will instinctively pick up the basics while shedding ring fear (every beginner goes through it unless they start very young).Comment

At least two people have faith in him,you and his mother.LOLThis is why he needs to start at the beginning. Charlie can learn his way just like anyone else can. What he is doing now is not learning how to fight, but just a method to keep toned.

On a serious note, you are right.Boxing is a sport that you need to proceed slowly in and not just jump into the ring underprepared or you will be overwhelmed by your opponent, fatigue or even fear.Comment

Well I never claimed I had faith in him!LOL...Check out my first post in this thread.
He is a kid with a dream though and I have no issue with that. It just bugs me that he is going about it the wrong way. Will he ever be a good boxer at this stage? I seriously doubt it. But if he approaches it correctly he will end up a lot better than he was last time.Comment
