Youre reasoning is ******.
Jones spent his whole career being a yank fighter. To put him in the top 5 p4p would be mental. He never went to europe and he never fought at legendary venues like Wembley Arena.
^^^^^ If I believed that I would be ******.
Calzaghe fights in Europe because he lives there. It's simple geography. Also, it's hard enough for a euro fighter to get a title shot against an American. Joe was a world champion. Why should a world champion have to take a step out of his backyard? Why didnt no top American fighters want to travel to Britain to fight Joe? I will tell you why, because they all knew who Joe was, and all knew how dangerous he was. I have respect for Lacy because he did what no American boxers do, and that have the balls to fight outside their own backyard.
We both know thats bull****. There is a reason why most fighters go over seas one time & one time only. They get ****ed with while there over there, whether its having their food tampered with to getting woken up in the wee hours of the morning. Bottom line, Americans dont fight in that ****hole because they dont have to. It's sad really, they have more champions then us yet they still have to make that trip to get any real attention.Comment

I mean when there's a bigger market in Europe, and so European fighters stay at home, that's no blemish on their records?Comment

The boxing scene in Europe is thriving. Arenas are always sold out, boxers make good money, and the fans get to watch good fights. The mentality that boxers need to fight in the U.S.A to prove themselves is out of date.Comment

Eurpeans dont have to fight in America but people like you think they need to for some reason.

I'm kind of indifferent, but now that overseas is "taking over" with an "influx of talent" maybe its time for Americans to be the nomads of the sport, I just dont see it happpening.Comment

I think we must all be conditioned into slightly less positive articles and words on Calzaghe, because this one surprised me. A good article but a little over the top in places, he hasn't faced amazing opponents. I'm surprised people haven't spotted the contradictions in Joe and Enzo's words here so I'll help them out. Joe essentially says if he performs well he'll be happy and reture. Enzo kind says the same, but then kinda suggests if he fights well he could fight on. Joe also said this before, that he'd stop as his performances are lower. So if it was good surely by that logic he'd fight on?
Anyways that's getting the pyscho analysing out of the way. Essentially Joe knows he's slipping but wants a good performance to go out on. That's all he's saying. As much as we'd love to see him face Pavlik we can't always get what we want in boxing so it's up to him to retire as planned or fight on. It's like a un-planned, un-expected extra if he fights on though, which ppl need to understand.Comment
