Listen buddy i am a huge Roy Jones fan but to say hes even got a remote chance in this fight is just plain silly!
look at the facts In his last 6 fights hes lost 3 times and been brutally KOed in two of them !
If that punch that hopkins Knocked Calzaghe down with had hit Jones ,Jones would have been KOed for the rest of the week lol

Johnson caught him at a bad time, weight drained roy.

Calzaghe doesnt have a right hand lol. first of all his stance is southpaw, so even if he was considered a puncher, his right wouldnt be as effective as his left
is that the excuse for getting ko`d by Tarver and losing to him the third time aswell?

I`m a big Roy fan also, but im realistic,

Roy hasnt fought anybody of note for 3/4 years and when he did he lost,

he has done nothing since to prove he is still elite

people just need to accept he is done,

i will be pulling this thread out of the archives after this fight and u will see this is exactly what happened in that fight
I think Jones, in a way, has a better chance than Hopkins, but ONLY if he jumps on Calzaghe very early and tries to KO him within the first few rounds. Otherwise, he'll probably end up on the canvas himself after 9 or 10. Hopkins never had the handspeed and ability that Jones still does, he's just cagey and smart. I personally don't think Jones can land enough to KO Calzaghe, but if he's going to win, that's his only chance. His only other option is to play it safe, in which case he'll probably finish standing up, but will lose on the cards, probably not winning a round after the 4th or 5th though most rounds will be competitive until Jones starts getting gassed in the championship rounds, but even then I think he will manage not to look too bad. If he does go for the KO early and doesn't make it work, he'll be blown by 8 or 9 and down shortly after, or TKO'd standing up.

agreed with everything you said accept i dont think Jones does have a better chance of beating Calzaghe than Hopkins did cause i think Jones is far more vulnerable and much more likely to get stopped and has just as bad stamina but i take your point he has a better chance early of Knocking Calzaghe out than Hopkins did

i thought Hopkins had a better chance because he punches straighter and he counters with the right hand very well and if you watch Calzaghe he is wide open for shots down the middle and i thought Hopkins would have had more success their i still thought he would lose but

i agree with the rest of what u said though

I can certainly see what you are saying here, but I don't think it would work and if Jones did as you suggest he would be looking at a certain TKO loss, again, exactly as you say. The only difference in our views is that I am 100% certain that Jones cannot beat Calzaghe. I've expended a lot of energy typing up the way I think this fight will go, but the bottom line is simple. On the night Calzaghe will just be better than Jones, Jones is too far gone now to compete with someone like Calzaghe. The Tyson comparisons I've seen are very accurate, sometimes it just has to be accepted that a fighter is not what he was.
